Let's talk MLB teams/players most screwed by no season

- Washington: they have the oldest roster in MLB and they are losing a year of Max Scherzer, who will be 36 in July, along with Ryan Zimmerman and prime years of Trea Turner, Stephen Strasbourg, and others.
- Dodgers: Similar to the Nationals they are losing a year of Clayton Kershaw, their opportunity with Mookie Betts, a year of Justin Turner as well who will be a FA I believe. This team is still young enough that it isn't the end of the world.
- Cleveland: they already struggled bringing in fans and now they will have one less season of Lindor who will probably end up being traded.
-Yankees/Astros: I include these two together because both were primed for a run at being the best teams in the AL. Now we miss a season of Verlander/Greinke and seeing Cole in pinstripes. These two teams also have some hard decisions in the off-season as the Yankees could loss Tanaka/Happ/Paxton/DJ/Gardner while the Astros have Gurriel/ Springer/Brantley
- Cubs: another year older and farther from their playoff success. Cubs also have some payroll questions heading into next season. So this could have been their last chance with that core to make a deep run.
- Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Gleyber Torres, Ronald Acuna, Juan Soto, essentially any young player missing a year of their prime and chance to add to what may or may not be a Hall of Fame resume.
- Albert Pujols, Joey Votto, Buster Posey, Miguel Cabrera, Felix Hernandez and many others who are missing opportunities to add to their resume to bolster their Hall of Fame chances with their counting stats.

Dumb question...if there is no season, does a contract just roll over? As in, if a player has a three year deal beginning 2020, would it remain a three year deal and just be passed on to begin in 2021 or would he move to year two?

Mlb has its hands full if the contracts end with no season played. Should the teams that signed one year players get their draft picks back? Should the betts trade be reversed?

Red Sox get helped immensely by this. Sale should be ready to go at some point next year right?

Don’t think there’s any way the players will let this happen

Fans. And a lot of us aren't coming back.

Mookie Betts looks to be the biggest loser by far. Worse time to be the top free agent.

They've already said players on the 40 man rosters will get service time.

This is what makes me the most upset. These guys are losing a chance to go out and help grow the game and their own resumes, but instead they have to sit there while the owners shuffle around trying to turn a fatter profit for themselves.
Baseball's inability to get out of their own way is truly astounding. No wonder the average age of MLB fans continues to edge closer to full SS benefits.

Yup.
There will be a lockout no matter what as well.

Define 'go'. If by you mean resume starting for a few games and then being shut down again and then rinsing and repeating then yes.
The Sox have now been bit twice on big FA pitcher contracts in Price and Sale. They will get nowhere near the value from that Sale contract. If you sign a pitcher to a long term deal you need to accept you are paying a good portion of that for past performance.

No baseball in 2/3 years..... I wonder what kinda contract Betts will get knowing revenue was less due to not having a season and the fact everyone knows we won't be playing in 2022

Out of the total times that they’ve held CBA negotiations, how many times has there been a lockout or a strike? It used to happen every time right?

historically, yes. expect this one to be much worse and much more bitter than any other though. i would not count on the 2021 season happening

Jose Altuve could miss out on 3,000 hits because of this

2016 didn't lead to a strike
Strike of 72, MLB lost 86 games
Strike of 81, MLB lost 713 games
Strike of 94, MLB lost end of regular season and all of postseason

They will start the season... but I could see them striking toward the end like in 1994 if nothing is in place.

Yeah over fricking steroid testing off all things.... This one is much worse and the owners/players are much further apart. They might as well tear up the CBA and just strike now

2021 will happen. It just may not happen with the MLBPA members. The owners will undoubtedly bring in scabs. Tony Clark and the PA is in trouble if this happens.
The PA is not in as good of position as they think, since this is not about the future of the Union and its future members as 81 and 94 were.
