re: Let’s have a “clear the air” “talk it out thread” about OKC

I watched all those bulls teams, comparing them to this okc team is fricking insanity.

The league is a flopping league and OKC is the best (worst?) at it. The NBA is essentially unwatchable because of all the flopping, whiny crytits that play in it. I think a lot of the blame for the shitty state of basketball falls at the feet of King Crytit himself, LeBron.

IMO it’s the flaw of the sport of basketball. The touch fouls, the flopping, and the free points. It’s a shite product and a flawed sport. In no world should you get free points for getting “fouled” 120ft from the basket. Sport is trash.

Statistically they’re the only team that’s comparable. You could throw in the ‘16/17 Warriors, maybe.
For the OP, blaming OKC fans for the discourse around here is absurd. Last year you guys wouldn’t even admit that SGA is good at basketball, it was ONLY because of fouls and free throws. Now you’re saying he doesn’t even try to score, he just hunts for a foul.
Totally disregarding that he won clutch player of the year and didn’t miss a shot in the 4th quarter for a month. No mention of him being the best scorer in the world. No he’s just the best point guard.
The soon to be back-to-back MVP is not given an ounce of credit here. A team playing historically good defense is “fouling on every possession.” And we’re the problem? GTFO.

I think it’s safer to say people just don’t like watching him play no matter the reason. The team gets hate cause they are the best like every best team in history. But people don’t like them because nobody knows their players and the best player on the team plays a style of basketball that is hard to watch, though so so so successful.

That’s the cliche repeated by people that only watch lowlights on twitter.
Watch this video and tell me this style of basketball is hard to watch. This is a season’s worth of highlights in one game.
Shai highlights vs. Nuggets

League could’ve stopped this 10 yrs ago with Harden flopping at 3-point line. But they didn’t so this is the result.
I think SGA is the worst. You can see how he situationally plans to flop during key moments. Incredible player that unfortunately resorts to that.

Young S’s Spurs will overtake them in 1-2 years.

OKC is the new GSW and this post just proves it
GSW were praised for ball movement, high assists, thrilling deep 3s etc.
OKC is just the new James Harden

I watched the first minute and a half and just saw him passing the ball a few times and taking a patented mid range jumper. Kudos.
What I should have said is anyone who isn’t a fan of OKC generally finds his game not easy to watch. It doesn’t make him awful and you shouldn’t take personal offense. He’s just boring. Tim Duncan was incredibly boring as well.

It’s not a comparison. Only that the complaints are near identical.

That's all they do. You can't simply express that you don't like to watch OKC without them all taking personal offense. They want everyone to like their team so bad it's comical.

Can’t watch a five minute video so you can maintain your wrong opinion. Unreal.
If you can’t watch a short video, how do you watch a whole game?

I just was expecting something amazing and it just looked like someone passing across court out of double teams and mid range shooting. I didn’t stop watching your cherry picked highlight video so I could keep my opinion. I’ve watched plenty of SGA over the years including some of the playoffs so far. I thought maybe this year he was different. He. Is. Boring. It’s just my opinion brother. It’s okay for him to be your favorite player and OKC to be your favorite team. I would rather watch 30 other players ahead of him and many other teams. It’s not an insult.

Disregarding the fact that you didn’t even watch half the video, how are those things hard to watch? Passing and making shots is hard to watch for you?

I've never seen sports fans seek approval for their team as much as OKC fans on this board.

If they actually got called for fouls the way these refs call fouls on their opponents many of their players would foul out by the 3rd quarter.
It's the Seattle Seahawks defensive strategy when they were making runs in the NFL a few years back.
Just hold and PI all the time. They won't call it every play.
OKC had everything lined up for them to a loveable dynasty, and they chose a style of basketball that makes people actively pull against them.
Getting fouled because you beat your defender with speed and skill is one thing. Getting fouled because you are literally initiating contact and grabbing defenders, then flailing to the floor like they were grabbing you is unwatchable and ruins the flow/excitement of the game.
The only thing more ridiculous is Adam Silver continually allowing officiating crews to call such one sided games for this team.

All I ever see is OKC fans correcting falsehoods, like when people say OKC gets a special whistle. That’s been proven false countless times yet people keep repeating it. It’s literally not true. For some reason folks are married to this false narrative.
