"The Penn State culture" and "mindset" you speak of is no different than any other group of fans.

Aside from Bama and their obsession with Bear Bryant, name one other college that comes remotely close.

They are fanatics and giving Penn State the death penalty in the hope that its going to make people stop being fanatics is not worth the negative effects it has on people who did nothing wrong.

They're fanaticism is much more severe than any other fanbase, save for maybe Alabama. It needs to go down a few notches, and it's going to take something particularly severe for this to happen. Any reason that was taken in defending Sandusky must be punished in some way.

No.

Let them go 0-12 on their own, right now for any senior in high school in Pennsylvania, I wouldn't be surprised if Penn is a more attractive option to play at than Penn State these days. So needless to say Pitt and Temple are about to grab just about all of the would-be Penn State commits who want to stay in the state.

I don't care what motives you want to ascribe to them; you're completely missing the point.

Yes, but their emotional responses need to be replaced with reasoning, and they're still not even close to accepting it. If that statue is not down by kick-off in late August/early September (whenever their first game) and try don't put all profits from their athletics to charity, then it's clear they are still in a state of denial and don't understand the severity of Penn State's crimes and the fact that their head coach of 61 years was a horrible man.

The motives were that they are fanatics. That isn't going away and to sacrifice the 1000 other people affected to try is mind numbingly dumb

They'd be anti-death penalty, sure, but I'd like to think they'd turn on Krzyzewski if he did this. I wouldn't put it past their program to cover it up though.

You can't force people to accept things and sacrificing 1000 people who had nothing to do with it just to try isn't the answer.

I say burn 'em. Putting program above principle is just dead wrong. The school will survive and no doubt the program would bounce back at some point. Maybe it will make the PsTB a lot more careful in vetting their next candidates to run the institution. Oh wait...

Burn the motherfricker to the ground and spread salt on the ashes. They created a culture in which a rapist preyed on innocents and everyone including the janitors looked the other way to protect the athletic department. Screw games, innocent children are more important everyday of the week and twice on Sunday

You really need to stop calling people on the other side of the argument dumb- 'have' not 'of'.

It sure would have been great had there been someone like you standing up for the actual victims but PSU people didn't give a shite about them.

Even though it's not going to happen they deserve it. You can bet your arse PSU is working overtime behind the scenes with the NCAA to keep this from happening.

I was a pissed off as anyone, but I have a hard time realizing a death penalty. The people responsible are either dead, in jail or unemployed. Also, perhaps they aren't done handing out criminal punishments to some of the individuals.

I don't think the death penalty is a deserving punishment since it would be punishing people uninvolved with the scandal. Not to mention Penn State is likely to have to make some payouts after the civil suits are filed and settled,so this should be punishment enough.

And the individuals who covered it up deserve the worst punishment possible
