I like Leftwich
I miss the announcers feeling the need to remind us every time he played that he was NOT a mobile QB

dude got hired for “coaching” Brady
I bet this will end well for Jacksonville…

Speaking of, with so many NFL vacancies still to be filled, why did the Coaching Changes board get shut down already?

I like it. Rather Leftwich get a chance than some retread HC

He didn't leave town well liked. Those sentiments could arise again, possibly quicker than someone with no affiliation to the area. His 3 years in tampa were the jameis 30/30 season and 2 years of tom brady. It's difficult to read his influence there. It's an uphill battle with how bad the roster is, so not expecting much. We'll see if he makes it through year 3, but the jags have made worse hires at head coach. One coaches my o line now
Agree with all of this. And if it was someone like the Pats, Steelers, Chiefs, etc. I might be a little more surprised. But Khan is probably thinking, "Hell, we can only go up from here."

I admittedly didn't know that he left the city on poor terms. I lived near Jax in the late 90s and remember those really good teams. They've fallen pretty damn far.

Yea I don’t think BOB is a super bowl coach, but I def think he can take a shitty franchise and make them competitive

It was more the fans scapegoating him than anything. Especially when David Garrard played decently, at a fraction of the cost.

True story. I'm not a huge nfl guy. Certainly not against it, just not emotionally invested in it at all. I was 13 when we were awarded the team, but my soul was already sold to college football. Most of my friends are "life-long" Jags fans, so I go to a game every other year or so. It's been rough for them, especially when fsu and uf have been down. The few Georgia/jag fans are content right now

I think it will work out, Tom Brady didn't make Charlie Weis look like an OC Savant at all. Let's Go Byron!
Edit: I'm glad BL is getting a shot. Tom Brady makes people look better than they actually are though.

Is it exhausting going through those mental gymnastics?
McDaniels is trash too. Race has nothing to do with it. I bet I could land a HC gig too if I was the OC for the greatest QB of all time is the point I’m trying to make.

Another colossal failure.

Your opinion of McDaniels is irrelevant he still got a HC job and is often linked with others. It’s not racist in the sense that someone consciously says we’re want Josh because he’s white or we don’t want Byron because he’s black but the end result is the same if you say Leftwich isn’t a good candidate because he was the OC for Brady. And saying McDaniels is getting other chances because the NFL likes retreads is exactly their point. How can more black coaches get chances that way?
Thankfully it’s a moot point since Leftwich did get a job. hopefully Bieniemy gets one as well not because he’s black but because he’s been a very successful coordinator that wants to be a HC and deserves an opportunity.

How long have you been in coaching? If you think any slappy with zero experience can do it, it shows you don’t know what you are talking about

Thought we were having a discussion but you completely missed the point

There was an nfl reporter the other day who said Leftwich should be a very very nervous hire because he has never really even run the offense in Tampa.
During the Jameis 30/30 year, Arians called the plays and did the install and during the Brady years, TB and Arians designed the offens, and then Tom basically did the install and ran the offense and called the plays.
Not saying he can't coach, but his credentials may not be all what they stack up to be. Just like McDaniels, who never did shite as an OC without Brady as his QB, and just like many many former Andy Reid assistants (ie Nagy) who never do shite outside of his oversight.
This love will probably flame out tremendously, because that's what the jags do. But at least we'll see if Leftwich is a decent coach or not.
Personally, they should have hired Doug Pederson. Dude should have never been fired in Phily and he made Carson Wentz the leading mvp candidate in 2017 until he got hurt.

I hope all the black coaches get hired this cycle so they can squash the talk. And when they fail it can be put to rest.

Jacksonville should have made this move in 2021 before they wasted a year of Trevor Lawrence's career. I'm not saying Leftwich will be great, but he's got to be a better hire than Urban.

Sounds like Buccaneers making the full court press to retain Byron Leftwich. Name him the next Coach. Bump his pay. Oddly, doing that would be a violation of the Rooney Rule. So what, pay the fine.
