Lebron doesn't have a problem with the NBA allowing players convicted of homicide, rape

I don't know about other players, but I bet LeBron could make it work. He's underpaid by rule already. He could easily make the same amount of money playing internationally for a year. Hell, he could probably make as much money taking a 1 year break to go wrassle professionally. Vince McMahon could easily get back $20 million exploiting LeBron in 1 PPV match. Financially LeBron would be fine taking a year off, so if he really wants to do it, it'd hurt his basketball legacy much more than his bank account.
That being said, I don't see how players boycotting changes anything. The league is about as invested as it can be in forcing Sterling out. If he doesn't want to go quietly, there really isn't much they can do about it other than convincing prospective ownership groups to dig deep in the couch cushions and make Sterling an offer he can't refuse.

I'd like an answer to that question too

holy shite, this Patterson guy pleaded guilty to attempted rape and got 15 days in jail and a 5 game suspension by the NBA. I never even heard of that, wow!
Posted on 5/14/14 at 12:52 pm to dante
you had to dig deep for that

No kidding
but I was wondering how the league handled criminal behavior versus social actions

I think English 101 should be a requirement for every NBA player.

Yeah, because people pay to hear them speak...

The owners want their money as well, and they're not going to lose their money to keep a guy around that they don't even want there.
This. I think a lot of ppl here are failing to realize most of the owners want Sterling out just as much as the players do.

I don't not disagree with Lebron.

It all fits in with the PC, liberal/left wing led media witchhunt to crucify wealthy white men.
Anybody can say anything as long as you aren't rich and white.
White in particular.
If I sterling if tell every one of me to go frick themselves.
Hate on haters.
Rich... don't care, eat shite, you mad. And jelly.

LINKThe NBA certainly cares more about blacks than gays, based on the Sterling ruling.

As for Stern, his words were nearly as pointed. “While I’m fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated,” ....... and everyone associated with the N.B.A. know that insensitive or derogatory comments are not acceptable and have no place in our game or society.”

No, he won't. The players don't understand business and legal matters. They shoot basketballs.
Sterling holds all of the cards here, and the fact that his wife owns half of the team REALLY complicates matters. Sterling's statements aside (which were illegally obtained), Adam Silver approached his decision way too aggressively and caved to political pressure (Stern wouldn't have done that).
Silver should also suspend Johnson from having any interaction with the NBA or franchises. He's stirring this pot, and his intentions are transparent.
