re: How would you "fix" Baton Rouge

The statistics are true, but "black people" are not all created equally. Plenty of hardworking folks out there who don't deserve to be lumped in with the parasitic thugs.

Not untrue, but at the same time little effort is exerted to clean up their communities. We aren't talking about a small percentage of blacks that are criminals or parasites. This is a majority. And while "thug culture" is a huge problem for black men, it does not address the issue with women in the black community - which are an equal, if not greater, drain on the taxpayers.

Is it racism when assertions are backed up by statistics? Or are we simply not allowed to hold communities accountable anymore?

If you have a small yard, it's not worth the money to get the self-propelled. It's just one more thing to repair.

The World Cup. Wasn't that obvious?

ETA: Disregard. I misunderstood the original post. I thought we were talking about the last 16 World Cup champions.

It is the "American" cup. 8 of the last 16 will be North, Central, or South American teams.

How many winners came from Europe?
Lost my mastiff to cancer 2 years ago. I still get a little misty-eyed when I look at pictures or video.

For me, the intense morning lasted about a money, then you're left with sadness, and slowly that sadness gets replaced with good memories (much like humans).

If I can offer some advice it would be to avoid trying to replace him. All animals are unique and if you find yourself looking for a dog like the one you just lost, it's too early for you.

what would you recommend?

I would recommend that you kill yourself.
65% of all violent crime in this country is committed by black people (who only account for 13% of our population).

When is America going to realize that it's a poverty thing much more than a race thing?

America will start realizing that when it becomes true. Sure, some crime is driven by poverty, but there are lot of poor white communities throughout the country that don't have murder problems.

The correlation between race and crime isn't coincidental; it's direct.

The only answer is MOAR GUNZ!!

The most logical answer is less black people, but the solution is frowned upon by some.

Without black crime, the US crime rate would be lower than Belgium. Bottom line, one race drives all of these violent crime statistics.

Ever been to Salt Lake City? I actually saw two teens stop and pick up litter once.

17. Less black people

You would be amazed how the characteristic of simply having less black people will improve a city. Less crime. Larger tax base. Lower tax payer liability.

I was a dedicated CNN watcher (when I watched cable news) for years. I switched to Fox after the Boston bombings. During the Boston Bombing, CNN was carrying coverage outside their hotel miles away; Fox had cameras on scene.

Fox is the best source for news. Their affiliations with local news outlets allows them to get to the story faster than CNN. Plus, they cover stories like the IRS, NSA, Benghazi, AP, Fast and Furious, etc. If you watched CNN or MSNBC exclusively, you'd never know those things happened.

Is it biased? Sure, but less so than CNN/MSNBC. Also, people mistake the nightly programming (O'Reilly, Hannity, Kelly) for news programs; those are editorial shows.

Fox's biggest weakness is international coverage. They are very U.S.-centric. Best place to get overall news is news.google.com.

Who's alter are you?

Not sure what you mean. I simply take offense to overzealous cops. Police are civilians, acting in a capacity to protect and serve the public. Nothing this officer did complies with the oath of honor he took when he graduated the academy.

Civilians (!) - like you and me - who we trust to uphold the law. They are not soldiers. They do not act as judge and jury. Their job is to enforce the laws (this requires that they know the law) while protecting and serving the public.

By any measure, this student was not a physical threat. The use of force is a violation of public trust and contrary to what we should demand from our police officers.
quote:

And yet none of that applies in this scenario. If anything that officer was dangerously patient with the subject.

Law Enforcement are specially trained to deal with these types of scenarios. The student was argumentative, but he was not threatening. There was absolutely no justification for violence in this scenario.

The cop was pissed because the student questioned his authority and he exacted his own set of consequences. I hope he's fired, and I hope he loses a civil lawsuit.
These fricking pigs. The only way this pattern of excessive force is disrupted is for the citizens to rise up and match their violence.

Albuquerque has a history of excessive force, and a recent DOJ investigation revealed the depravity of that police force.

I'm so tired of these poor white kids with no fathers killing people.

re: Baton Rouge Traffic

Fortunately, I don't commute from Lafayette anymore so I don't know first hand. What I have heard is that there is some fairly significant road damage either on the bridge or Highway 1 off ramp that is causing traffic to slow (quickly), which in turn is causing accidents.

Not sure if we blame the drivers or the shitty government workers.

Solely because Silver took swift decisive action.

Silver used an axe when he could have used a scalpel. He was far too aggressive and caved to political/media pressure. That's not the role of the commissioner.
quote:

I just don't see the relevance over how it was obtained since this isn't a court proceeding.

It's not relevant under the framework of the NBA Constitution; however, if Sterling, or his wife, pursue this in the courts it will be relevant because the very evidence used to by the NBA will not be admissible. It will be difficult for the NBA to present a case with only anecdotal evidence.

By all intents and purposes, the NBA brand has not been damaged to a significant degree - certainly not enough to justify a lifetime ban and loss of franchise.
[Qoute]Is it wrong of me to back Sterling from a business point of view?[/Quote]

I support him from a business point-of-view. It's absurd. As far as I know, Silver hasn't even heard an unedited tape. He based his reactionary ban solely on an illegally obtained tape that had been edited. I just hate how Silver has approached and managed this. His response to the CNN interview was WAY out of line for the commissioner.

If fans/media/players want to boycott the Clippers, that's fine. Let the free market rule.
Perhaps (to a degree).

I just take issue with the owners trying to enforce the legal framework of an NBA Constitution when the very evidence they are using against Sterling was illegally obtained. If Sterling decides to take this to the courts, those tapes would not be admissible.
Who cares? If the Rams didn't draft him, the Packers would have. Leave him alone and let him get a little mud on his helmet.
No, he won't. The players don't understand business and legal matters. They shoot basketballs.

Sterling holds all of the cards here, and the fact that his wife owns half of the team REALLY complicates matters. Sterling's statements aside (which were illegally obtained), Adam Silver approached his decision way too aggressively and caved to political pressure (Stern wouldn't have done that).

Silver should also suspend Johnson from having any interaction with the NBA or franchises. He's stirring this pot, and his intentions are transparent.

You do realize that donkey punching requires sexual intercourse, right?

Donkey punch is a slang term for a fictitious sexual practice supposedly performed during doggy style sex, particularly anal sex. The purported practice involves the penetrating partner punching the receiving partner on the back of the head or in the lower back to make the receiving partner's anal or vaginal passage tense up, thus increasing the pleasure of the penetrative partner.
