Nope, I can suss out the easily inferred implication of Lebron's comments, unlike yourself, Mr. Wilfully Obtuse.

So you can’t actually respond? Got it.

Is this XIV guy literally trolling us right now?
I mean the arguments hes conveying are so absurd and ignorant of anything that they shouldn't even qualify as arguments they should qualify as nonsense babble

The stupid thing is, let's say LeBron actually meant "slave" in the sense of a common toiler/laborer. We know that's not what he meant, but humor xiv here.
BY THAT DEFINITION, every employee is a slave, and every team owner/commissioner has a "slave mentality," including his Lakers and Adam Silver, whom he went on to praise later in the quote.
So, no, the whole "he didn't mean chattel slavery/wasn't being racist" gambit doesn't hold water in the context of the full quote.
xiv struggles with context, apparently.

You’re saying the relationship between NFL owners and players is like a slave owners and slaves. So you’re implying the players are like slaves and view them on the same level as actual slaves. You can’t actually respond so you say “I’m not going to bother arguing”.
Like the poster below says, you shouldn’t throw slave around loosely. It’s a slap in the face to people who were or are actually slaves. If he was trying to compare NBA players benefits compared to what NFL players go through, then he should have said that instead. But the use of “old white men” makes it seem like he referring to the old American slavery and likens the owners and thus the players to that.

Either way LeBron shouldn’t be throwing around the word slave so loosely. Obviously LeBron doesn’t know who runs corporate America

quote:It’s you. The context is given from he point of view of one of several NBA players, whose relationship to their league/owners is much better than that between NFL players and their owners. From James’ perspective (context), the NFL is oppressive, and the toil of playing in the NFL is slavery.

You are the one having trouble with context here, my friend.

Jesus Christ, you jumped through some incredible mental hoops to come to that conclusion, mijo
Context doesn't just have to do with perspective, you dumbfrick. Clearly LeBron weighs the race of team owners in his assessment of them having a "slave mentality." Otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up.
NBA players also toil. If James is using the definition you claim, then he himself is also a slave being oppressed by those who have the same mentality.
Just take the L, hermano. Your wordsmithing is so-so, and that's me being nice to you.
