You really think Lebron would do worse if he was allowed to be MORE physical?

Seriously, he'd have Kleenex as a sponsor by the end of the season.

I would love to have seen that cat play against Detroit.

There you go, discredit people due to age that that has some bearing on who's better. I'm going to stop listening to anything anyone 30+ has to say in regards to pro sports because you're all biased as shite

no, but you said you remember jordan in his prime. Which is a ridiculous statement to make since you are 23

Maybe one day you'll grow up (nothing to do with your age) and not insult people right off the bat who disagree with you

I don't think people understand that.

Actually, I believe we do. I don't think people understand that the players then had to adjust to the physicality and officiating, just like they do now to the ultra-conversative officiating. To think a physical freak like LeBron couldn't have held his own back then is just comical though

...and to say that he would have been the best player in the league back then is comical as well.

If you don't realize it yet you're in denial or you're slow. He has the scoring ability of Michael Jordan and the floor vision of Magic Johnson. He's the perfect combo of speed, strength, size, skill, and work ethic. He will never be as polarizing or have as much impact on the game as Michael Jordan did, but he's the best basketball player to ever walk the earth and if you haven't realized it yet you're just behind.

Yep

You don't remember anything from when you were 5-9? You may want to get that checked out. MJ was like a superhero to me back then. Like I said I went back when I was older and rewatched most of his finals games. I remember MJ fine, it's not like he played 30 years ago and people don't talk and show you all about him all the time

The real problem with this thread is the disconnect between how people define GOAT. Some people base it only off career resume. And some are basing it off skill level and production. These won't always yield the same results.

Not well enough to definitively state something like you did as fact. that Your brain isn't even developed enough back then to make a valid opinion on a player. I remember his big games and big plays, but it is absolutely foolish to say that you remember jordan in his prime since you were 5-6 years old.

The old timers just like to think everything was better in their days. Music sucks now compared to my day Basketball and football were way better in my day Etc, etc

I don't disagree that much with your statement but the bolded part IS true. Music has been pathetically bad since the turn of the century/millenium (2000 onward). Pick ANY 10 year period between about 1955 and 1995 and they all piss all over the last decade of music.

I wasn't around for Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Wilt Chamberlain, Bob Petite, Pete Maravich either. Does that mean I can't understand how great they were? No I didn't have Bulls season tickets in the 90's but it's 2013, it's not that hard to find stats, videos, games, opinions, ect on anything. To say you had to be in your 20's or teens or whatever the cutoff is when MJ was in his prime to understand is just stupid, everyone knows who he is and all about him and his career

Come on now, even Jordan said Lebron would be a star in that league

These arguments are ALWAYS one sided. Jordan is the GOAT, Lebron has a shot at getting there. Will he...? Sit back and enjoy

I think just overall technology and enhancement is better in music today. What they can do in a studio is unreal.

Basically, it comes down to individual opinion if you think that has improved or declined music.

And I'll re-post this:
quote:

I see your point. Every AREA is better nowadays than it was back then. Technology, reason, athleticism, research, etc.

I'm the biggest supporter of this.

However, that doesn't mean every individual is better. Jordan was incredibly ahead of his time, both with skill and physical ability. People seem to forget this.

Just imagine for one second....where defense is barely allowed......what Jordan would do to this ticky tacky league in his prime.

Jordan got the superstar treatment. The refs gave him more than his share of the calls.

no, but you said that you remember both of them in their prime as a statement of your qualifications. Actually, what you said is:
quote:

Not a high school kid, have watched both play about equal amounts.

which I highly doubt is true, and even if it were, your memories of Jordan are going to be clouded, old, and naive, compared to your 23 year old memory of Lebron. Your memories of MJ are going to be mainly of the decline of his career

quote:

To say you had to be in your 20's or teens or whatever the cutoff is when MJ was in his prime to understand is just stupid, everyone knows who he is and all about him and his career

that's fine, but leave what you said out of your argument then. Your provided bullshite and insults instead of the stats you keep mention in this post.

You didn't post a stat in any of your posts
