This alone coupled with his stats should make him a 1st ballot entry

Correct answer in bold, so absurd how good he actually is and how his stats would have reflected this had he been with a competent QB for most of his career

Going though a stretch of terrible passes from Gabbert, Drew stanton, Bradford and rookie Josh Rosen and only having 29 drops is amazing.
can't drop a pass that thrown to the DB

I still think Fiztgerlad is probably the best college WR I ever saw.

Back in the days of the real Big East, Pitt used to battle the likes of VA Tech and Miami and he fricking torched them every time.

Had 40 yard time around 4.63. Shows you that there’s more than speed involved to get open. Theres a lot of acting in route running and reading the defense properly to find the right spot.

Rice’s 40 was recorded as slow 4.71. Both guys were/are able to play so long because they don’t depend on their speed.

Yep. They both run routes with surgical precision, use their bodies well to box out defenders, and have GOAT level hands.

And Larry Fitzgerald could leap out of the building. He was ridiculous in those 2008 playoffs and it’s a damn shame that they robbed the Cardinals of a Super Bowl for the Steelers, just like they did the Seahawks 3 years prior.

He could jump but his timing was the most impressive thing

I saw Rice play his last college game at La Tech in 1984. He was by far the fastest player on the field that day. Also, Rice played in a era where DBs could crowd the line of scrimmage and get physical with WRs after 5 yards. Not sure if the rules had already changed by the time Fitzgerald got to the NFL?

I remember I felt worse for him than I’ve felt for any player in a long time after that Super Bowl.

People forget he damn near won that game with this play:

"( Jerry) Rice also possess the kind of speed- 40 yds in 4.58 seconds- that Walsh has been looking for....."( UPI/4/30/1985).

"Rice Runs a 4.45 ,40 yard dash" Head Coach Rollie Dotsch after drafting Rice #1 overall in USFL))

" Stallions Grab Speedster Jerry Rice in 1st pick of USFL Open Draft"-(UPI)

There were reports from both NFL/ USFL scouts that Rice was supposedly a 4.45 guy down at Valley. Rice ran a 4.58 at the Combine & it was considered a little " disappointing" & the myth has grown that Rice was "slow".

Both Rice & the 49ers scoff at the notion that he ran a 4.71/ 40. Rice like Leonard Fournette was a blazing 4.5 guy.

From Pro Football reference & every other source I've looked Fitzgerald skipped the NFL Combine workout ,but ran 4.48/4.50 at his pro day .

Rice & Fitzgerald aren't "slow" & those 4.63 & 4.71 are myths.

I would go further and say that while MANY other receivers and DBs had faster 40s than Rice and Fitz, those dudes at times were still the fastest players on the field because of their conditioning.

Let’s be honest. It’s one thing to run a fast 40 yard dash in T-shirt, shorts and track spikes, when you’re primed and fresh, and these days on a surface like a dang indoor track sometimes.

Now do it in helmet, pads, and with ten minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. That’s when guys like Rice and Fitzgerald could run away from DBs who had sub-4.4 times.

The 40 yard dash has never been sanctioned as a Track & Field sprinting event because it's a flawed measurement. More of how quick ones reflexes are & quickly from "0-60" speed & not "top end".

Guys like Fournette ,Rice would be just as fast or faster than some( not all) from 60-100 yards.

The guy should have taken his talents to a place like NE or Denver (under Manning) or GB or somewhere like that years ago and he may have damn well gotten close to Jerry Rice's numb
