how do you not see an issue with this?

I value the loyalty of my friends more than cheating in cycling.

He’s definitely an unapologetic a-hole, but it’s embarrassing watching people fall over each other to pile on him over the last decade.

This isn’t about what he did, it’s about the anger and embarrassment people felt when they found out their hero worship was based on a facade. People hate being wrong and “duped” so much that they have to take it out forever on him. Publicly hating him is their coping mechanism.

there is a lot more i would have liked to hear. especially about his positive test that got swept under the rug by the uci. lance claimed the uci and verbruggen were protecting him because it protected the sport. what lance failed to mention were his "donations" to the uci. wish the filmmaker would have been more critical in that regard.

also would have liked to hear some honesty from hincappie, hamilton, and julich in their interview with schaap on the making of the documentary, esp. about doping in the contemporary peloton.

we know that random east europeans (and tommy d.) occasionally get popped for EPO, but why not be honest about things like the widespread use of tramadol, ketones, and shady TUEs? so maybe these things aren't on the same level as EPO, but the peloton is still pushing the envelope and PEDs however defined are still being used.

Tramadol is banned and ketones are not shady

tramadol was only just banned last year. and i agree that ketones can be considered nutrition. but the use of TUEs is a total joke and makes a mockery of the sport's claim to be "clean".

Agreed with the TUE stuff and believing the sport is clean is only setting you up to be disappointed. I would just except it is not and move on

Probably not independent factors. To dominate a sport that physically grueling requires preternatural mental characteristics.

He should have dropped the “truth bombs” when he was caught instead of throwing people under the bus

A whole lot of people threw him under the bus, too. Sports pick certain people to decimate. Baseball chose Bonds and Clemens for steroids even though over 60% were juicing in that era. Cycling chose Armstrong because he was an American and the most popular figure. If nobody had been juicing and everything would have been equal he would have own several Tours anyway.

He did a ton outside of the sport. Light years more than anyone else has in cycling.

He was unapologetic for a long time and paid a hefty price. He’d do it again and so would anyone on this board if given the same opportunity to make the same decisions he made and live the same life he has.

I imaging that the networks covering the Tour De France...really truthfully didn't care. When Lance was dominating...i andmillions more watched. Not that ends justify the means, but Lance did use the cheating for some good with the Live Strong program.
