Kyler Murray will return $1.29 million of the $1.5 million signing bonus money the Oakland A’s gave him last year. He forfeits the remaining $3.16 million due March 1. The A’s will put him on the restricted list and retain Murray’s rights, but they don’t get a comp draft pick.

wow, damn. Makes you wonder why any MLB team was willing to draft him in the 1st round with that kind of guaranteed money unless they knew he was quitting football. Kind of a dumb risk to take for a player that was so unsure when drafted. He wasn't a good enough baseball prospect for that risk IMO

Nobody thinks that, the point is he won't be able to see over the linemen.

he played this entire season behind an NFL sized Oline. Do you think our Oline are all 5-11"? WTF are you even talking about?

I wonder if that was carved out for Boras or if he’s actually keeping that money

He told the A's he was coming back to play baseball. He lied to them. He had way more success in football than expected and bailed.

He will be a horrible 1st round pick. LOL at the team who does make that selection.

All those quick slants & curls the Pats throw, what the frick do you think Brady's drop is on those throws?
He says hut from the shotgun, takes about a half a step and throws it

Didn’t he play spring ball with the As last year or something? Probably where that amount came from

Exactly. Because that's what you do when throw a quick slant.

Which makes it surprising they're letting him keep any of the bonus money already dispersed to him.

He's probably the most talented passer in this draft, but I'd be terrified that his little body will snap in half.

You can't throw quick slants while your running backwards, numbnuts. I don't know what you're laughing at.

LSU fan doesn't know what a quick slant is or how it's ran.

If he does play in the NFL, he will have the largest forehead in the NFL since Peyton Manning retired.

What are you laughing at? The heavy majority of all of Bradys passes are from the shotgun

Quick slants especially are from the shotgun. Thats kinda the point, to get the ball out quick......

He was drafted in June. 210k is right around 4-5% of 4.6 so I’m pretty sure that’s just Boras’ commission

but was he allowed to accept that signing bonus and remain eligible?
Yes because it was a different sport. The A's contract only takes away his NCAA eligibility/amateur status for baseball. I remember hearing of a few guys in the past that played minor league baseball out of high school then eventually went to school and played college football.

He thinks QBs take 3-5 step drops while throwing quick slants. Everybody laugh at him.

I mean, it's run in a lot of different ways. Not every single QB has the same cadence, step back speed, throwing speed, and tons of different variables.

Hell, the Patriots (whom you keep referring to) have various "quick slant" plays that come off of weird fake screens and fullback playactions.
