Great Kobe stories from the Aussie Open. Serena's coach, Patrick, said Kobe asked him a million questions at the U.S. Open last year. Then, I guess Kobe said he is in the Novak camp of the Big Three. They are playing a clip of Novak from two days ago on ESPN saying they talk all the time.

Why do you think his family was seeing reports of this on tv without having heard from law enforcement? The TMZ report came about 40 minutes before news made it on tv. This thread got started a good 30 minutes before any tv stations were reporting it.

You keep making arguments based on emotion but not rooted in facts. You are embellishing what you think could have happened.

Lawsuits will be coming. 9 people died and since they were going to practice I imagine more than just two were girls on the team. Its very plausible Kobe told all the parents have your girls here at my house and we will helicopter over.

The weather was bad and Kobe doesn't seem like a guy who would be okay with missing practice because a pilot said they cant fly. If I am a parent and my daughter died under those circumstances I would sue the hell out of Kobe's estate.

I love Kobe, but with all we hear about private plane and copter crashes it was very irresponsible of him flying people to basketball practice under adverse weather conditions. He was flat out liable as soon as anyone got on that helicopter.

Unless Kobe pressured the pilot to go anyways it’s the pilots job to determine whether it is safe to fly or not

That said, I’m sure lawsuits will fly but more so just bc that’s what ppl do these days and not bc they are deserved for Kobe’s estate

This news hit hard today. It's crazy enough watching all my childhood sports heroes retire one by one, but to have one that was so much larger than life die so tragically....I'm emotionally shook.

The sheriff literally called out TMZ for breaking the story before they notified the family.

That's not embellishment.

There’s 2 parts to this

1. He could have been salty that TMZ was able to confirm this before his own department

2. Public figures are rarely granted the same privacy, even in death, as private citizens

I’m not sure why you’re so mad about this TBH

That may be so, but damn. I don't think it is too much to expect media to contact the police to confirm and then ask if the family has been informed. If they haven't been told, then hold off for a bit. Doesn't seem like that's too much to ask in my opinion.
