On one hand, the Knicks are stupid for firing their first coach in forever to get legitimate results.

On the other hand, will anyone ever hire Thibs again? Now two teams that have fired him after legitimate results. His coaching style works but is extremely toxic.

His problem is he's older than you'd think. With Pop retiring Thibs was oldest in the league.

My favorite type of tigerdroppings insight. I dont watch or even follow this sport, much less this team or coach, but let me make sure I give my opinion of it

I was looking for someone to tell me this was a valid opinion or not. Thanks for not helping with that.

I'm not a big Thibs guy but I would 100% take him in Nola. Need a coach to not let Zion be a pussy. Can't be soft playing for Thibs.

And it's kind of unfair to say his style is toxic. He plays guys a lot of minutes but it's only proven, if anything, that it keeps guys from getting injured rather than the other way around.

Is there a league that fires good coaches more readily and quickly and somehow recycles just absolutely awful coaches instead?

Seems like a dumb move given where they were. Maybe they could use a new voice but talk about different expectations to when thibs was hired. KAT has his moments but made them worse defensively which is Thibs calling card. That knicks team did some of the dumbest shite I’ve ever seen defensively in that Pacers series.

Supposedly Jay Wright and Malone are the top candidates.

Do they get hurt more than other players?

The empirical evidence is a little inconclusive, partly because the nba is not that clear on injury status. But Thibs teams lead the NBA in minutes played by starters pretty much every season. And his coaching style definitely wears on both players and the front office. He’s left a wake in every one of his stops. That’s not inconclusive.

My personal opinion is a lot of this has to do with Brunson. Small point guards don’t do well in the league last past year 10 and Brunson will be in his age 29 season next year. Thibs was running him out there 40 minutes a game every single night, I think the front office wants a coach that is on board with trying to preserve their franchise player.

I can see both sides of that logic, but with Brunson in particular, I think it makes sense.

He's had KAT in two different places.

We'll see what happens with a new coach but it sure seems like it would have been tough to get more out of that roster. Thibs could have played Shamet more but there's nothing on the bench beyond him.

And KAT played in 82 games in two of those seasons and 72 this year. He ain't load managing you, which is what Zion needs. Someone who says F off to load management and makes his guys play.

I agree with this, but if he runs Brunson into the ground and he’s shot in 2 seasons, that’s a pretty bad result too

Dumars needs to fire Willie Green right now and go after Mike Malone or Thibs.

But it's the Pelicans so he won't
