Kiffin is a self-entitled prick who fortunate to be born the son of a football coach and parlayed that into an opportunity he didn’t deserve at a young age. He fell up a few more times before hitting rock bottom at USC, then the coaching fraternity bailed him out again.

He’s never had to struggle for not earn anything in life, yet he decided to pull the “tough guy” routine. He’s a fraud.

Melt.

Kiffin has matured immensely over the years. Yes, he used to be an immature dbag, but thankfully he's grown up

These kids wanted to be paid like professionals, so now you have to act like a professional. Try not showing up for your job for two weeks and ignoring your boss when he reaches out. You know what happens? You get fired on your arse. Welcome to the real world, kid.

It is also possible that this guy sucked and was annoying so they were looking for a way to get rid of him. It is possible (and most reasonable people would say very likely) that it has nothing to do with race.

I like Kiffin and he said this to a wide receiver recruit that both schools are after.

quote:

Coach Kiffin told me, if you want to be a draft pick, then you go to Ole Miss or Ohio State. He was so straightforward about it and I liked that.
He said, if you're an offensive tackle, then you go to Miami. Coach Cristobal breeds offensive linemen, but Ole Miss and Ohio State breed receivers.

Sounds like Kiffin tried to support him and the kid didn’t follow through at all. If he was not hospitalized he has no excuse for not contacting the coach for weeks.

The same thing would happen in a real job. You either take advantage of the services offered by the job, power through it, quit, or get fired.

Kiffin is the best offensive mind in college football and only a couple are in the same breath.

Additionally why does the kid believe he is due 10s of millions of dollars?

Probably because Kiffin makes a lot of money as coach and he wants it.

But if he wasn’t good enough to cut it on the defensive line for OM, he was probably never going to make it at the NFL level. Certainly not in the 10s of millions of dollars range.

They should have just kicked him off the team (unless they couldnt and were intentionally trying to run him off).
Kiffin didnt need to berate the guy but i imagine dealing with those kids ego would get very tiring and old. If an employer talked to you like that you would absolutely raise hell about it, if Kiffin wants to compare this situation to the "real world"

I’ve had mental health issues that have caused me to take time off work. You have to go through the proper channels. You can’t just not show up to work. You need your psychiatric care practitioners to document the issue and then work with your company’s disability insurance. Or in a student’s case, the appropriate equivalent at the university.

I don’t like dismissing anyone with mental health issues as a snowflake. I also don’t like people using mental health as a crutch/excuse when things don’t go their way and weaponizing it.

True sufferers of mental illness do not want to flaunt it to get specialized treatment. In fact, it is extremely embarrassing and we just want to be given enough resources to be able to function at an acceptable level.

That said Kiffin does come across as incredibly insensitive and his response would not fly in the real world of today either. Still, this lawsuit is frivolous nonsense.
