I just don't see the Bears being more than a 6 win team this year. They have the same problem that Tampa has - you'd probably be a 8 or 9 win team in most any other division but you have the 4th best qb in your own division (and by a more significant margin than Tampa as well) so you'll wind up being 4th in that division.

Mack helps but is giving up two first round picks to drop from picking 5-8 the next two years to having no first round picks and still not making the playoffs really worth it?

I can;t see this being Gruden. Reggie McKenzie has been on my shite list all off season, and now I hope he packs his bags and goes right the frick back to some shitty scouting department. Guy has had only 1 decent draft, and just traded arguably his best player.

What a joke

Gruden has a 10 year $100 million contract, the GM ain't doing anything he doesn't want done.

dont think you let Mack walk unless you have someone to at peast fill his spot. Might not be Mack level, but cant be doing that bad.

They were awful on defense with Mack last year. How much worse can they get?

the rebuilding is essentially done. the last piece was an edge rusher opposite Floyd that they never addressed.

When you consider that next years first pick would almost HAVE to be DE, and the assumption that we'll be drafting out of the top 15, it's not as steep as it looks.

Yeah it's not as big of a price that people think. Mack is amazing on the edge on running downs and that's going to help out Roquan to an insane degree. This makes that pick even more valuable

Mack is a top 5 player in the league. And he’s 27. He’s worth it. He’s a corner stone defensive piece that can turn a top 10-15 unit into a top 3-5 defense

You can’t think about it like that. I mean shite Blake Bortles is probably the 4th best QB in the AFC North and the Jags made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. I’m not saying the Bears are going to be the Jags but they could be, and there’s nothing wrong with building around a defense, especially when they have talent at a lot of positions. They really could be this year’s dark horse playoff team. They’ve built their team a lot like Jacksonville has. Look at the Bears roster and look at the holes. They have some, but not a lot. They’re not as far away as people think. They have quietly assimilated a pretty good roster

Hell im not a Bears fan and I can see that

They’re talented but their defense is kind of suspect. I see an 8-8 football team. They’re not Browns bad by any stretch but they always seem to lose 2-3 games a year they have no business losing considering the talent they have

I find it odd so many people just assume Trubisky isn’t good. We really don’t know either way, as the sample size is so small. He is key though, Bears are such a wildcard but they get a firm test next Sunday

won 5 games last year with playcalling like it's 2002 and a roster of bottom barrel, cap saving FAs.

Watching Fox "coach" last year was some shameful shite. guy was over it. I kinda get it, Pace wasnt ever going to invest with Fox running the show, but my god.

to say that these Bears, after one of the most aggressive offseasons ive seen, arent gonna improve more than a game or two is insane, imo. id say 8 is easily within reach, maybe be a darkhorse wildcard team if Mitch can keep his mind off all those bewbs.

Two firsts and paying a premium? That's steep as hell.

Raiders fan here, and am not surprised, as unlike Ram DL Donald, Mack doesn't disrupt the game play to play for a 100M type deal.

Team not ready to win big just now anyways, take the picks, build for the Vegas move.

I see your point but at the same time, Luck/Mariota/Watson aren't Rodgers/Stafford/Cousins or Ryan/Brees/Newton so it's not really a valid comparison.

The Bears are a better team than they were before acquiring Mack obviously but they are still 4th in that division and more importantly aren't making the playoffs this season and likely won't next season unless Trubisky takes a huge leap. Their WR/TE corps may be better than last year but it's also still 4th in that division and is definitely in the bottom quarter of the league. Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen is a great backfield duo so I'll give them that.
