Chinese is a nationality, not an ethnicity.

Martin posted a second video on Instagram, presumably in response to those critical of his original comments, saying that his initial statement was a joke and not about race.
"That man grown, that man can rock whatever hairstyle he want to rock," said Martin, who spent 15 seasons in the NBA. "... That don't mean I have to like it or agree with it."
Lin addressed the idea of cultural appropriation -- the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of another culture -- in his Players' Tribune essay and wrote that he hopes that the conversation about cultural differences can continue.
"Again, I may not have gotten it right with my idea to get dreads. But I hope that this is a start, not an end, to more dialogue about our differences," Lin wrote. "We need more empathy, more compassion and less judgment. That takes actual work and communication. So let's start now."

Why the frick would you have to agree or disagree with how another grown arse man wears his hair? Who gives a shite?
Even when he's trying to walk it back, this idiot reveals just how ingrained the cultural appropriation bullshite is in him.

I can't remember the name of the show, but they would be a butt ton of celebrities to give their opinion on news stories or pop culture, fashion, music, movies, and I honestly could never stomach it. Why do we put so much stock into the opinions of certain people about such mundane BS?
I totally sounded like an old man there, but it's that culture that drives that. People eat up social media not just because they need to know what other people think, but they feel other people HAVE to know what their opinion is on everything. I love the local news stories that pop up on my facebook feed, some guy busted for drugs or whatever, and the facebook moms come out in droves to let us know how disgusted they are and when we should castrate the person.

"and i think as minorities, we appreciate each others cultures"
Wait....hold up....we are talking about GLOBAL cultures here and Jeremy Lin is claiming that he is a minority? fricking Asians are by far the biggest race on the earth.

At least you don't have to worry about someone calling out Ginobili for culturally appropriating a hairstyle. Baldness knows no race.

I miss 2005 Manu's tresses

My wife asked me "who's that?" the other day when I was showing my son a highlight vid. I keep forgetting she's only ever known short-hair/bald Manu

I'm gonna try to try not to paint every black person with this brush, but I feel at this point and time in society, blacks feel like they can say whatever TF they want. No matter how ridiculous it is. You can disparage the president, lie about police brutality, and stuff other people would be widely condemned for with little backlash.

No one ever accused Kenyon Martin of being smart, great college basketball player though

There's definitely a double standard. My wife and I see it every day and it's pretty silly if you ask me.

He's 4 months old.
Already recognizes Spurs colors and knows the sound of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
Gotta start the brainwashing young

It’s strange that cultural appropriation of “black hair” is a hot button topic. I think it’s ridiculous nonsense but if you want to get technical blacks appropriate hair from other cultures more than any other group. Its an odd battle to pick.

It's also a target too. Asians get insulted all the time, there's not as much backlash.
