if you've watched a game on ESPN where you can't hardly here the players or crowd its probably b/c they dont actually have announcers on site.
that's pretty messed up. But i guess it's hard to send people to Robert Morrises and Grand Canyons of the world every game.

Like AA's article said was possible, I think the trend will reverse and eventually networks will eventually say that it's not worth the sacrifices needed to afford broadcast rights. The TV deals are being reflected in NFL/NBA salary caps, and those are rising at unsustainable rates.

How would that save much money considering they have to fly out all the equipment and crew people to broadcast the game anyway?
when you add up the amount of games they air each year its probably a good chunk of coin

They should cut deals where they use the teams' announcers. Imagine watching an LSU game on ESPN and hearing Hawthorne. That would be awesome.

It would be awesome if you are a LSU fan. Imagine if you are a fan of the other team. It would suck hearing a huge homer of the other team call the game.

Bathtub Boy is his own worst enemy
Posted on 7/8/15 at 6:47 pm to jlnoles79
I'm proud to say I never watched him.
He's basically the male version of Rosie O'Donnell. Can't get along with anybody. Outside of Dan Patrick, who claims to even like him?
Edit - Bathtub Boy?

Olbermann is an abortion to broadcasting. He needs to go away forever.

No he's not .. He's one of the few left with a nut sack and an actual opinion that doesn't suck up to the company line ..

Per Deadspin.
Wow. Still, if that works both ways and some of the actual clowns hit the road, the channel may be watchable beyond the live sports one day.

Olbermann’s contract is expiring at a time of relative austerity at ESPN. The cost of live sports broadcasting rights has exploded over the last five years, and ESPN has aggressively bid on most rights packages. ESPN, usually the biggest earner for Disney, was the only division that saw its profits decline in the last quarter of 2014, and according to The Big Lead, ESPN president John Skipper has been told by his Disney bosses to “slash about $100 million from the 2016 budget, and an estimated $250 million from the 2017 budget.”
With live sports broadcasting contracts already signed, one of the places Skipper can save big money is with talent. By cutting loose Simmons and now Olbermann, it sends the message to other highly-compensated talent that they shouldn’t expect an open wallet and a blank check come contract renewal time.

If he wasn't relevant at MSNBC all these people wouldn't be hating him.
