Kayvon Thibodeaux or Aidan Hutchinson for the #1 Pick?

Ever since he set foot on the college football field, Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux has been the consensus No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
As the 2021 college football season winds down, he might just have a worthy challenger in Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson.
While Thibodeaux has been as advertised throughout his collegiate career, despite playing through injuries this season, Hutchinson has made the most of his decision to return to Ann Arbor for another season. The Wolverines’ star defender was likely destined for Day 2 of the 2021 draft, but his dominant senior campaign has launched him from the 2nd/3rd-round range into being a top-five lock.
Hutchinson has dominated just about every offensive tackle that has dared line up across from him this season, saving perhaps his most impressive performance for the biggest stage of the year so far. In Saturday’s 42-27 win over Ohio State (Michigan’s first victory over their most bitter rival in eight years), Hutchinson bagged three sacks, setting a new single-season school record with 13 sacks in 2021.
Speaking of the NFL ranks, it won’t be surprising if whoever ends up with the No. 1 overall pick (sure looks like it’ll be the still-winless Detroit Lions) still opts for Thibodeaux, thanks to his rare blend of size, athleticism and explosiveness. But it’s also possible that the Lions who whoever else will look at Hutchinson and see the kind of complete defender with polished technique and a nonstop motor who is also worthy of the top spot.

UW played against both. The LT, Jaxson Kirkland, got embarrassed by Hutchinson. He completely shut down Thibodeaux though. Hutchinson seems like he has the higher floor between the two, but Thibodeaux may have the higher ceiling.

Hutchinson. Nice, clean cut, non-thug. Scrappy.

I'm not sure Thib has been healthy this entire year though.
There was some talk it would be the DE from Purdue who is Greek. There are some great DEs in this class for sure that you can really make your team better.
Hutchinson was a nightmare this year for sure

How often do college stars (especially on D side of ball) with incredibly high ceilings and injury problems in college pan out? Thibodeaux seems like bust potential but he is tempting.

Thib take it to the bank

Nobody is drafting a non pass rushing DT at #1. This isn't the 1990s.
Jordan Davis will be a mid or late 1st rounder.

Hutchinson is the better player

The first pick is going to 100% be a qb. Maybe Howell at UNC, or Wilis at Liberty, but the lions are not taking a pass rusher.

but the lions are not taking a pass rusher

+1 the lions have two first round picks. They can go QB with that second pick

Thibodeaux and it is not even a question.

Jermaine Johnson is better than both.

Ojabo has more upside than both.

I probably would take in this order the DL
Thibodeaux (Clowney freak ability)
Karlaftis (Can play inside or out and is that good)
Hutchinson (Is he product of having Ojabo on the other side, because earlier in career)
Davis (Can play 0 1, 2, or 3)
