Well, of course I'm not basing his stats on LAST year. No one is doing that. Decisions are based on the previous years with predictions of how he will workout in the next season.
Man, no one is going to even glance at anything regarding stats last year. All those games but one he was playing limited "return from injury management" mins.
Go look at his progression from rookie year up until he got hurt vs. GSW in the 2017 WCF. Freakishly upward linear progression year over year.
If he's healthy and just now entering his prime? Bruh....

In 2015-2016 Leonard average 21 pts per game
2016-2017 25 pts per game.
So, sure, if he average 25 pts per game, then he is that guy. But only two years of his career has averaged above 20 points per game. That, in my opinion, does not make him a top 5 player.

Except You literally posted his stats from LAST year. He averaged 25.5 PPG the year before lol.
ETA: Hadn't refreshed in a while. Irrelevant comment now

I keep thinking Jerry West is going to land a big name somehow this offseason.

You're not grasping the full picture. He did that playing in a system that purposefully rests players/reduces their minutes, and in an offensive system that's predicated on sharing the ball. He is all that and a bag of chips. Anyone would want him as their main cog. This was HIS team in San Antonio that set a record for franchise wins. Not Tim Duncan's. Not Manu's. Not Tony's. Not LaMarcus'. Kawhi's.
Idk how much you've watched him over the years, but since game 3 of the 2014 NBA Finals up until last year's WCF, he legitimately blossomed into a top 3 player. Not top 5. Top 3.

No, it's not a typo: The Los Angeles Lakers are now 6-1 to win the 2018-19 NBA title at Westgate. They opened 20-1.
