Who gives a shite. A lot of Dad's aren't nice guys. Kareem has never been Mr. Personality. He paid his child support for a kid he didn't want. Seems like he did his legal duty, and that is all he is required to do.
If you want to bitch about daddy not coming to your baseball games or graduation, fine. Go for it, but understand that it doesn't make you special. It makes you normal. Deal with it.

Kind of amazing the complete pass Abdul-Jabbar's getting from some posters here for being a complete shitshow of a dad. So fricking what if other people do it? That doesn't make it right. Are y'all in fricking middle school or something?

KAJ still took some part in creating the kid, the kid could've at least been with his father, the mother doesn't count because she isn't with him but its not really a great situation on both sides.
Perhaps one day KAJ will realize how horrid of a person he is, I don't care much about his basketball achievements because the situation isn't new [Famous person or not].

I think he's one of the greatest, but my dad says he didn't work hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, he didn't even run down court. And that he didn't really try... except during the playoffs.

He seems to be quite the free spirit, drugs, Buddhism etc. he does explain some things from his childhood that put Kareem in a bad light. I.e. talking shite to him about his mother and using drugs in front of him. IMO he's just being honest; people are generally asking questions that are family oriented; something KAJ wasn't to good at.
