What does that have to do with them not being able to play this weekend? This is where I call BS.
Because the guy they got to put up some emergency money and save the league from folding earlier in the year was pretty much funding things on a week to week basis while things shook out.
He "committed" 250 million but he didn't just write a big check and that pledge came with a shitload of qualifiers.

Who you let invest in your business is just as important as what they invest.

Birmingham will try to claim this title somehow.

There’s a theory the AAF was cutting edge with gambling technology. Dundon invested to get his hands on that technology.
He anticipates sports gambling to be widespread in a few years. A dynamic gambling app with shifting odds as a game progresses and the ability to wager on the outcome of each play has the potential to be huge.

Seeing as how all the other leagues that popped up were so successful, I just can’t believe this is happening.

Exactly.
I really wanted this to work. They might have shot for too much too fast. Look how long it took the MLS to become profitable - at least a decade.

Time to re-use this one:

Goodbye, Johnny. We hardly knew ye.

looks like dundon is a piece of shite

Just got off the phone with a source close to the AAF. A few things:
1. No one, I mean no one, gets why Dundon is doing this. Not the AAF, nor its partners, nor the NFL
2. Just because Dundon is the control owner doesn't mean it's his company. Complications on the horizon.
quote:
3. Source confirmed what I previously thought: The idea that Dundon bought the AAF to steal its technology is out there. There will be lawsuits if he does.

He was apparently last seen Monday night clubbing in West Hollywood with a concussion.
Hopefully, the league has a few hundred bucks left in the bank to get the poor guy a plane ticket back home.

This will be a great 30 for 30 in 15 years.
