[McMurphy] June Jones has declined an offer to become Hawaii’s coach, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Jones was UH’s coach from 1999-2007
Have no idea where Hawaii goes from here. It's not an attractive job at all.

Hawaii must’ve given him a shitty offer.

Didn’t he say they still had carpet from the 70’s when he left the last time

Didn't he come out and basically beg for the job last week? I do not know where they go now...

I remember reading a story a couple years ago about the AD buying lightbulbs and changing out the dead ones in the athletic department building himself because after asking the janitors for 6 months it never got done.
It's really an impossible place to have any sort of sustained success.

hopefully they pick somebody who wants the job as something more than the lazy retirement gig Jones was clearly going to use them as.

No one wants the job.
No one wants to hire Urban Meyer.
Seems like a match made in paradise.

He was asking for the job earlier this week. Either they gave him a shifty offer or it’s an absolute shite show that’s way worse than the public knows about. Or both

This seems the most likely scenario with that program.
As was mentioned, Jones practically begged for the job back. He played there. He coached the best team in school history. And he still said nope in the end.

I feel like there is no reason for Hawaii to have a college football team.

I present to you all, coming soon to espn+, the new hit show, Hawaii Coach O.
Just imagine the crazy shenanigans of a fish out of water story as we drop off a horny cajun with millions to burn on an island paradise filled to the brim with hot young trim. It'd also be the perfect place for him to hire all his BBQ buddies for a nice retirement plan.
What do you say Hawaii? You don't care to fund the program to win, might as well make it a circus

Why? They should be on the short list if they build a nice stadium and the PAC 12 wants to expand

Hire one of those coaches from Samoa or Hawaii or Tonga... they can recruit all the island boys

Hawaii athletics brings nothing to the table

Sources told ESPN that the school wanted Timmy Chang as the eventual successor. Jones has no issues with Chang, the former star quarterback. But Steinberg told ESPN that Jones wants full control over the staff. Jones still wants on the job but only with control over staff hiring.
