This is significantly more egregious than anything Kiffin, Golding, or anyone else has done. This needs to be the case that pushes the pendulum back the other direction. Embarrassing for Texas tech.

It’s not much different than the Chambliss ruling.

The coach is obviously being sarcastic, I find it easily believable.

It’s different in ways that count. Chambliss had to do with a difference in interpretation. And the judge said the NCAA couldn’t go after Ole Miss until after he’s had his day in court.

Sorsby admitted to breaking a clearly stated rule. The judge said the NCAA can’t prevent Sorsby from playing which is kind of true. It’s up to the member school to follow the NCAA’s ruling or face consequences.

Until the universities decide to give the NCAA(or a collective governing body/commissioner) some balls nothing will change. And as long as the University presidents are stacking fat rolls of cash nobody gives a shite.

Everyone can see its a joke yet nobody is moving.

Yes it is. They went the same route to circumvent the rules, but the rules are vastly different in terms of severity/impact to the game.

One kid got an extra year of eligibility he shouldn't have, the other gambled on his own team in a game.

Conferences could fix it

How? Its not even that I disagree but if conferences come up with rules and those rules arent followed and then theres a lawsuit that sides with a player how's it any different than the NCAA rn?

I don’t have time to read through 11 pages, but why only 10 games?

Also Sorsby is a POS. If he had any integrity he would accept his punishment and move on.

this may very well be true (probably is), but he has 5 million reasons not to accept his punishment and move on

The 2 game suspension is what TT and Sorsby came up with voluntarily

From what I am reading, the judge ruled he must sit out 2 games.

He is also eligible to play in the playoffs if they make it.

ETA: Ok turns out, Sorsby and his legal team floated that idea initially (2 game suspension), which was rejected. Once they appealed and the injunction was granted, the judge made it part of the deal that he must sit out the first 2 games of the 2026 season.
