He must have said something that hurt your feelings, because he’s one of the few people in the mainstream college football media industry that is neither a hot take merchant nor a thinly veiled homer.

I don’t always agree with Pate, but he’s 1000000x better than the Klatt’s (hot take merchant), Brando’s (clickbait merchant), Kannell’s (raging homer, absolute troll), and Cowherd’s (doesn’t know the sport, parrots what others say) of the world. Nobody in the media sphere is as in tuned to the entire sport as much as Pate

If you’re looking for a college football media type that isn’t specific to reporting on your team, who out there is better than Pate? Genuinely asking because I want to listen to their show

Some people like reasonable, well-thought out college football takes presented in an articulate fashion like Josh Pate does, others like inaccurate nonsense screamed at them at 7 am like Stephen A. Smith does. To each their own I guess.

I like Pate's style of coverage where it's measured and not hot take based, but I just very much don't like his on-screen personality. He's good, but not for me.

Best College Football show available.

Tell me who's better and why, I'd like to give them a listen too.

His show is solid. I don’t love his 180 flip on the G5 and his disdain for them, but other than that it’s a great show.

He does whatever it takes for clicks. When he started out I enjoyed his content but now he’s just full of crap. He says one thing one week and the complete opposite the next week.

I listen to the College Football Enquirer too with Wetzel, Forde, and Dellinger.

Pretty reasoned takes usually and cover all college sports. Forde can be a docuche but he is balanced out.

My wife (who knows nothing about football) finds them entertaining and wants to listen on long car rides.

Pate is easily the best. He’s the most knowledgeable, most reasonable, AND he is the most in-tune with how fans think about and talk about their teams

I don't have a big problem with him, but there are a few instances where he gets a little self-righteous. He got all over LSU fans two years ago for being upset that we lost to A&M, saying something like "I call this recalibration of expectations", and went on about how we weren't expected to be very good before the season, and A&M was supposed to be a top 10 team. And based on that, we should have been satisfied that we won the West, and somehow that was supposed to make losing to A&M no big deal.

I thought it was a really shallow argument. Why should we not have expected to beat a team that was, what, 4-7 going into that game? Preseason expectations come from guesses. We don't know anything until we actually see some games. So the idea that we aren't allowed to change our expectations, months after we've been given ample reasons to do so, I find to be absurd. Even if LSU turned out to just be the 7-win team most thought we'd be, I'm not going into that game expecting to lose to a 4-win team.

There are times like that example where he goes, in my opinion, over the top to try to appear more reasonable than the rest of us. To make us seem like we're just being emotional. His argument there lacked common sense, to me.

I liked him more before I had an on3 sub. Any content that is shoved in my face via autoplay is bound to get annoying.

I thoroughly enjoy both but does anyone feel like JD Pickell is a complete copy of Josh Pate?

he’s talked about on air and is open about how he has to cover what pays the bills. Said that he still loves g5 teams and watches them but doesn’t have time to cover them

Do like that a part of his "pre show" lists who / what he's going to cover & he pretty much follows the list. If there is no interest in those subjects, saves me from wasting my time. Does tease future shows too much at times but he is watchable.
