They were high on Leony Martin. He's young and could become a contributor. I hope the Rangers don't overreact and do something rash.

The Rangers lost a big part of their lineup... but it's hardly the end of the world. While the Angels have become the favorites, I hardly expect them to run away with the division.

The Rangers will compete.

Who has been better at 2B then Kinsler? Maybe Phillips because of his defense? Uggla?

And Utley hasnt done shite in three years. I'd take BP over Kinsler, but Im biased.

Good post. I agree. Let's let it play out. People are going to try to bury the Rangers. Let's see if they respond with something or respond by playing well in the field.

It isn't like 2B is a deep position
Hell out of all 2B last season only 2 hit over .300 (Cano/Scuturo) and only 2 had over a .350 OBP (Cano/Hill)

I mean Darwin Barney had second highest WAR at 4.7

I would take the three you listed a long with
Brandon Phillips
Dan Uggla (even though he's kind of overrated too but go Braves)
Ben Zobrist
Daniel Murphy (since he's been in the league anyway, I think 2008?)
Rickie Weeks
Probably Howie Kendrick

eta: I really don't like Kinsler so take that into account

Especially at the Daniel Murphy part.

Really great deal for the Angels now. In 2015 when the Pujols and Hamilton contracts are albatross' around the Angels neck, not so
much.

I don't think people are saying they can't compete. It's baseball and anything can happen. But they are in a pretty sticky situation. Moreland, olt, Profar, all need to step up in a huge way. Or they need to make a deal.

And if they win 1-2 World Series, no one will give a frick.

Pujols contract will obviously be bad late in his career.

Hamilton will be 36 at the end of his, playing in the AL. At worst he"ll be a solid DH

Hmmm who would I rather, over pay hunter at 37 coming off a career year, or perennial MVP at 31yrs old?

Never did like hunter he's a bitch

I'm willing to bet the Angels have insurance on the contract as well in case he relapses or for injury like the Yankees with ARod

You really think an insurance company is going to insure a contract backed by someone with Hamilton's injury history. I can't imagine they would.

Kinsler to LF

RF would probably be better. He's too spacey to be trusted in LF (fewer lefties, fewer chances to space out on a play).

FA/trade to CF?

No. Gentry and Martin can handle this. You can't replace Josh's production no matter what you do so why waste money?

Deal one of Andrus/Profar for a OF

I would deal Elvis since he isn't going to re-sign with Texas once his deal is up. But I would demand a quality pitching prospect (not necessarily the other team's best one but not some scrap leftovers like we got from Philly).

I think he prob meant the team and Hamilton agreed to put something in his contract to protect the team from a relapse or injury relating to relaspe?

Like Beltre needs a certain amount of ABs in year 3-4 of his deal or the rangers can void the last year. Or something of that nature.

Don't think he was speaking of actual insurance
