You ull fans are all insufferable douches
You are once again arguing semantics. They have been a member of what we call FBS since the division was created. They did not move up to the division they were there when it started. They along with every other program in existence prior to 1978 had a history that predates the NCAA FBS, yes. ULL however did not 'move up' in the same way as LTU and ULM from D1AA as was your assertion. They moved up the same way Alabama, LSU, USC, Notre Dame, etc moved up into FBS as charter members.
I've now defended ULL enough for the year. Cajun fans shouldn't laugh too hard at ULM over their budget and what is currently happening. We are less than a week removed from both the CFO and President leaving the school in Lafayette as the state prepares to launch an investigative audit into their own $50MM shortfall stemming from athletics.
I give the same advice to 'rival' programs when they celebrate another program going through hardship. "Whistle past the graveyard", EVERY program has skeletons, no one is squeaky clean, and every program in this state is a squeaky wheel from the skeletons being shown the light of day.

They clearly played in small college division until 73, division I in 74. It’s not semantixs. It’s f’ing fact

Did they move up to FBS or were they a founding member of the division?

These mid-major schools are getting squeezed out with the quickness. Number 1 is they don’t have a large loyal fan base to support them. Number 2 is with the Power 5 conferences expanding, these schools will have to play additional conference opponents, leaving out the mid-major schools rent-a-win money they have counted on. Finally, the bowl scene can’t keep up the current pace. With the playoff system expanding, the non- playoff Power 5 teams will start taking the bowl spots they may not have been offered previously. Let’s face it…the bowls just won’t have a large appeal anymore and they may just start going away.
Within ten years I think “fbs” as we know it goes away. I think we see the G5s and better FCS schools group together and form their own division. Not sure if it takes the place of the current FBS or if they get related or what but most of the G5 can’t keep up anymore. I really wish ULM can find a way to hold on until that happens instead of going nuclear (if that happens idk) but we’ll see.

Monroe was once a really good town. Unfortunately, it will be a complete craphole in the next 20 years.
ULM needs to focus on core academics such as pre med, pharmacy, accounting, insurance, construction, ag business, nursing….and be the damn best in those fields.
Otherwise, the downward spiral of Monroe paired with the lack of athletic program support will be a nasty tumble.
Say what you want to about UL-L and Louisiana Tech, those two schools have something ULM lacks….a devout, rabid, loyal core base of alumni and fans…..it is the damnest thing.

if this is true I kinda have a bad feeling we’re about to either gut a bunch of sports or drop down.
Makes me so sad. I remember what it was like when I was a student. Dr. Vines was fabulous. I will forever be pissed at Swearingen for all that he allowed to happen. Followed by Bruno who did some good things for the school but awful for athletics.

We’re all (Cajuns, ULM, LA Tech and similar program) being gutted and bled out.

I just crunched the numbers. After we upset Ark in 2012 & lost to Auburn in OT the fans set record for most attendees in a game when Baylor came. So the team started 1-1 & we came. 31,175 there. More than Tech has ever had.
As a Louisiana Tech alumni, based on the above you think I should dislike ULM. I will hate on ULM for whatever that is they built in the end zone. The archatech must've never seen a picture of malone stadium. That building looks more like a yum foods restaurant than part of malone stadium.
That's all the hate I've got. Nothing but love for ULM.

It’s all good.
I’m just beyond frustrated with ULM athletics especially football. How do you have a team from 1994-2024 (since moving up to FBS) have 1 winning season in 31 years? If this were a professional team they would have closed shop & moved to another city decades ago.
This is sad but my one ask. Can we literally have 1 winning season that ends with a bowl victory? That’s such a low bar to climb.

what a joke. How can they be that broke?
Just drop down and play in the Southland and bring back Vincent Brisby and Roosevelt Potts as coaches to help recruiting.

Don't mean to pick on you, but I think this post is easily a microcosm of the root issue. UL Monroe, Louisiana Tech, and UL Lafayette funds/support are siphoned off to BR because large percentages of our communities and alumni are LSU fans first. You sport LSU flair but use "we" when speaking about ULM. I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't be LSU fans, but you can't lament and wish for your alma mater's state of athletics while waving a different flag.
For all I know you support ULM financially, so don't take my observation personally.

I see and understand where you’re coming from.
I sport ULM flair on here but in public am definitely more vocal about LSU. I have ULM gear I wear but not as much as LSU. I definitely support ULM first but when we barely play and it’s pretty easy to split support between both. Especially when I didn’t grow up on ULM like I did LSU.

Just had to win one game last year to take techs spot in Shreveport.
ULM does have a way better atmosphere for baseball games. Just the viewing is a dump. Every time I go to the Lou I feel like I am watching the game from a roof top vs a stadium.

Great observation on the flair. Believe it or not I changed it a few months ago. I had ULM on here since I joined TD. I felt after having a 10 game losing streak last year in football & another 6 game losing streak this year, then craping the bed in baseball & basketball that I wasn’t gonna rep ULM on here if this is the product.
I know seems silly to change something so minor but I was like I’m done. LSU consistently has success & they are my favorite “national” brand university anyway so I’ll rep them for awhile.
I’m not a fair weather fan I just can’t keep getting “figuratively” kicked in the groin with ULM’s disappointment.

Tech draws better crowds, but I can walk up right before a ULM baseball game and get tickets behind home plate.
