That skill set is a premium in a passing league.

I understand not wanting to pay someone that much money, but Denver paid Von Miller and they are still in a good position to win.

That's true, and look at the Bears now.

That doesn’t cost 20 million a year

It's Jon, not John.

To be fair, Von Miller @ 19mil is better value than Khalil Mack @ 23.5mil.

But the biggest thing in all of this, Derek Carr @ 25mil is vastly worse value than Keenum @ 18mil

This will be the 3rd straight year the Broncos miss the playoffs since paying him.

Yup. His prior success was due in no small part to having Mack on the other side. I had a feeling his productivity was going to nosedive when he left.

It’s just my opinion and I have no data to back it up, but I feel like there are a lot of pass rushers in the NFL today. The NASCAR package that NYG ran with a decade ago, is much more common. Teams aren’t pursueing big burly run defenders for the sake of being able to stop the run.

The difference is that more teams are investing draft capital into pass rushers, and lots of them.

Due to the run game being innefficient way to move the ball, more pass rushers who ten years ago. Might have been knocked for lack of size to plug gaps vs run, have a more viable shot at making a roster.

However, with more teams slinging the ball around and accurately too, it’s muchh more obvious when your team lacks an adequate pass rush (Raiders/Seahawks) and easier to take advantage of.

8 of the projected top 10 picks in the draft next year are DL. It is a loaded class like we've never really seen before, all the more reason to trade Mack now.

Give me Nick Bosa like every mock has for the Raiders and 3 more first round picks every time.

Due to the QB position, not defense.

Denver’s defenses have been elite lately.

Just remember that Denver has had to deal with Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch at QB.

So has anyone been able to figure out why exactly Gruden was such a hot commodity?

So the QB position matters more than an edge rusher? Shocking.

Bears will fall into the same trap if and when Trubisky fails.

Kind of proving the Raiders/Gruden's point.

Arden Key has actually been pretty good for a rookie. He is grading out as average to above average in all PFF categories

If Mack wanted to be there he'd still be there.

IMO Oakland dear Mack because their defense was beyond repair. Is it too far fetched to say it is the least talented defense in the league even with Mack? They needed a complete overhaul.

Yes, it's not even without Mack, the starters have a decent amount of talent, it's mostly been depth issues.

I would say the Chiefs have the least amount of talent on D in the league right now.

This.

Especially for a 3rd round rookie. Key has a very high ceiling.
