What? The anthem protest was Kaepernick's entire final season with the 49ers.

required Kaepernick to take a paycut

Well yeah. He was going to make $15 million on the final year of his 49er contract that he opted out of. What team is going to give that kind of money to someone that likely wouldn't even be a starter?

I wonder why he never had a problem with the anthem (despite being drafted in 2011) until he was gonna get cut in 2016. Hmm...

It was after.

You’re wrong, the offer was in the spring of 2016. The protests started in August 2016.

quote:

But the alternative that he knew would happen was he'd be cut and make no money, so indirectly it would not have been a paycut because it would have been a job making more than $0.

Wrong again, the offer was made the day his contract became guaranteed for that season.

He'd be stupid to take a job making money instead of getting cut and making no money if his goal was to play and make money?

quote:

Coming out with this right now is actually adding fuel to Kaepernick collusion case fire.

How? It's saying he could have had a job in 2017 but chose not to.

Wrong and wrong again.

I think Kap is a douche but if your going argue about stuff, get your facts straight.

Here is the article from the Denver Post in April 2016. https://www.denverpost.com/2016/04/02/broncos-make-push-to-acquire-colin-kaepernick-but-contract-an-issue/

Short term benefit vs long term benefit.

$12m for a season as a benchwarmer is money in your pocket but your long term prospects are iffy. As he found out.

Taking the pay cut is a short term loss but he would have a starting position and would be signing a new contract.

Or, sit on the bench until Gabbert is hurt, and you start

vs

Going to Denver and having your pay halved, then getting released for whatever reason after a year or so and lose out on the extra 5 or so million if you had just stayed with SF.

somebody needs to look up the definition of the word 'blacklist' before they ever post again on this board

And would drive fans away.

Regardless of what you think about the protest, it’s a fact that it’s very unpopular with NFL fans and will cost a franchise money if they sign him.

It’s basic economics.

I'd bet a few teams brought him in and offered him some type of chance that he turned down.

Seattle supposedly made him an offer but made it a condition that he drop his on-field protests and Kaep turned it down

SI isn't being misleading. Denver offered Kaep what they believed he was worth. He turned it down. Then stunk for the Niners...which made the offer he rejected too high.

So no one wanted him before his publicity stunt gone terribly wrong?

I think this helps the NFL’s case. Too bad they can’t depose his lawyers to learn how the protest idea was planned.

And they’re still posting stupidity even after they have been proving to be factual wrong.

Those John Elway comments on Kaepernick need context. Chance to play for Broncos he’s referring to involved pay cut and was pre protest. Totally disingenuous to pass off as relevant to current situation.

Elway is a trump supporter who likes to spread information like his idol.

Now 9

WTF does a timeline have anything to do with Elway's deposition and tweet about Kaep's lawsuit? If both of you are too stupid to understand, I'll type it out very s l o w l y.

When the Broncs desperately needed a QB, they contacted Kaep 2X, and he gave them the cold shoulder (while being a back-up QB through all of '15). Then when no one else wanted him, he filed suit against them (et al), claiming they had blacklisted him over anthem protests.

Elway straight up testified that no way in hell would Kaep ever play as a Bronco, and that decision was written in stone before he ever kneeled. Specifically due to how he handled the negotiations.

Blows the theory of collusion by the entire NFL right out of the water regarding the anthem. That's why Elway feels confident enough to talk about it openly.
