Adolis profile is scary, some guys are so explosive they can make it work for a few years. He certainly destroyed us

He looks so good in some AB’s, but he’ll look totally inept at times as well. Reminds a lot of Odor. I think he guesses a lot and batting around Joey I think got/get him a good bit of protection fast balls and he kills them.

Gallo’s a really good defensive outfielder. He’s like a poor man’s Aaron Judge. Only major difference between the two is that Judge is capable of hitting for average.

This is for the baws in the derby thread that we’re telling me Gallo isn’t a top OF.

You said he was a top 3 OF in all of MLB.

He's not.

And in the postseason or down the stretch I don’t think I could trust him in a spot that REALLY matters to put the ball in play to help the team.
its not that you are wrong. If you are in the 9th inning with a runner on 3rd, down by one, with one out you naturally don't want gallo at the plate. I just dont think it's playing losing ball considering he increases your odds at scoring multiple runs across an entire game

There are situations where I wouldn't want him at the plate. But there are more situations where I do

Yep that’s a great point and admittedly it’s my own short-sightedness that prevents me from seeing how good Gallo really is.

Again, if that’s the case, it’s hard for me to believe he merits $20M+.

You’re talking about potentially saddling your franchise on a guy who has more walks than hits this year.

It’s a tough call. Think you’re better trading him out for parts. Let somebody else pay the sticker price.

there are 90 situations where I want him and maybe like 10 where I don't. Then I want him basically all the time in the field. Then he has a positive impact as a baserunner

So you’re using his batting average last year in a 60 game season? Okay yeah right. Joey Gallo is batting .239 and started the year off batting right at .200 he’s really turned it on. Besides what he does with his game he only needs to ever get up to maybe .260. So you’re going to use his insanely great OBP % this year against him cause he’s doing so good? The dude leads the league in walks by a MILE right now. Last time I checked it was 12 over 2 other guys, he will probably have 120 walks this season. I haven’t even mentioned he’s an Elite defender either in right field already having a gold glove. He’s well on his way to his 3rd 40 homer year already, his walk numbers, OBP numbers are starting to hit their stride finally, and he’s already got a Gold Glove with a possible Silver Slugger this upcoming season. You’re post is incredibly ignorant and you don’t know Ranger baseball. He’s worth over 20 million a year that you tagged in your post. I would be willing to say he’s worth between 22-25 million a year right now at 5-6 years. He’s been playing for dirt too for multiple seasons now. Dude is worth every penny.

Barry Bonds had almost 100 more walks than hits in 2004, and it was one of the greatest offensive seasons of all-time.

Not in any way saying Gallo is Bonds, just saying that the argument of having more walks than hits necessarily being a bad thing doesn’t hold up.

Yeah I went to upvote a post and it wouldn't let me. That's when I realized it was so old.
