I'm not justifying JoePa's actions. But he did grow up in a different era. That's kind of how those things were handled back then.
I am disappointed in this though. I've always kind of given him the benefit of the doubt that he really thought he was doing what he was supposed to do, given the era in which he grew up.
Kind of hard to keep that line of thinking now.

Blatant negligence and possible accessory

Two totally different situations. I doubt the director of LL would cover it up.

You're preaching to dullards bro. They don't want to hear objectivity. Joepa wrote the book and coached Jerry through raping little kids according to them.

Millions of parents shouldn't breed then. Why didn't McQueary, the janitor or anyone else call the cops? Why is it all on jp?

Easy. The insurance company doesn't want to payback PSU $60M. So they're going to throw anything to void their obligation to return money
Allegedly:
Until there's actual proof he knew JP should be left alone.

The day JoePa was fired, I was headed to Cocodrie to start a 3 day fishing trip with about 8 buddies. I was in the truck on I-10 with one of my closest friends at the time, when he essentially said, I can't believe they fired JoePa, it ain't right, and then he proceeded to make the same defenses that have been made in this thread. I looked at him and said bro, he deserves to rot in hell and we began to argue. We came the closest that we have ever come to an actual fistfight, until I made this analogy to him. I said,
Dude, picture you are the head coach of the local high school. You've been there a long time and have been pretty successful. You have a legendary offensive coordinator you've known for a long time, lets call him Coach OC. You've heard people say he's been inappropriate with kids, but you've never seen it and it's never been really corroborated, so you've just given him the benefit of the doubt because you've never seen him like that and you just don't believe it. Coach OC is a good guy in your eyes.
I am a friend from the neighborhood or church or some such, with a 13 year old kid that might be a good QB in high school if he can be coached up right. You say, sure send him to my summer camp I have every year where Coach OC and I work with junior high QBs. It's over a weekend and your Coach OC has arranged for the kids to get to stay overnight somehow. The specifics of the accommodations don't really matter.
Now a day after the camp, one of your younger assistants comes to you with a story of how he walked into the shower and Coach OC was in there naked with MY CHILD and he heard "rhythmic slapping" and he essentially says, I think Coach OC was having sex with MY CHILD.
In our story, the mandatory reporter law is the exact same as existed at Penn State. So you call your principal and you and the young assistant report the matter but over the next few days you realize that nothing is being done about your report. But then you decide, I did what the law says I needed to do, I'm done. I will do nothing more.
At this point I looked him straight in the eye and said don't misunderstand my next statement because it is not a threat, it's a promise.
I want you to know that when the whole thing comes to light and I find out that YOUR coach raped MY CHILD and you knew about it and only told the PRINCIPAL????? You never thought to tell the ME, THE CHILDS PARENT?or the frickING POLICE?
YOU BETTER HOPE THAT THE POLICE GET TO YOU BEFORE I DO, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE LUCKY IF YOU LIVE THRU THE frickING BEATING I WILL GIVE YOU WHEN I AM DONE WITH COACH OC.
Then I calmed down and said, yeah, so Paterno deserves to rot in hell.
And we had a fine fishing trip.
All of you defending him should really just shut your mouth. You are just identifying yourself as people with horrible fricking morals and principles and letting me know that I wouldn't trust you enough to take out my trash.

I think Paterno had a tragically unfortunate case of tunnel vision. He cared about nothing but winning football games. That led to some success, but also led to unforgivable leniency in regards to a demonic child predator.
My only question is.....did quitting as a football coach kill him, or did the weight of guilt over harboring a monster kill him?

Again he did what he was legally required to do. If there's proof JP covered it up, Fukk him but until then leave him be. There were teachers, janitors, etc who said nothing why aren't they being blasted?
Posted on 5/5/16 at 11:19 pm to TJGator1215
frick the janitors, garbage men, and whoever else knew and let it slide. frick Em all. However, I don't see over a 100,000 some odd people vehemently defending the janitor. So I don't feel the need to call him out

Dude what would it take for you to just admit that JoePa kept a childfricker on his staff because the guy was really good at coaching defense and essentially did as little as possible to turn him in because the scandal would hurt the football team?
It is essentially what the rest of the world already realizes except about 150,000 PSU/JoePa diehards.

Except what he was legally required to do, and what he should do as a human being are two different things.
Did he do what he was obligated to do under the law? Sure, maybe. I don't really know or care.
Did he do what he should have done as a human being. Absolutely not. There is literally no argument to be made that says he did.
No one gives a shite about the law. Yall can stop bringing it up.

Nobody is even saying that though, so why are you knightingn so hard. We are saying he was a morally reprehensible piece of shite human being that knew what was going on and didn't give a frick because of his legacy. The world is a better place with him dead. Nothing about the law.

What if there's just proof he knew he was commiserating with an active child fricking rapist on a regular basis, and being accommodating to that rapist raping more kids, but no cover up?

Again, they didn't "run" Penn St you stubborn dense SOB. I am frankly at a loss as to how you can defend the guy.
