I would let him coach the last home game this weekend then part ways. Must remember that he was the only one who did everything "legally", although still fricked up morally

I was one of those who thought that he was not complicit in this before the evidence was linked by another poster.

Have we fallen so much as a country and lost our moral compass that we would stick to the legal aspects though morals and plain common sense dictate that whatever this man did was just really a fricking disgrace!

What if the affected child had been a niece or nephew or even the kid down the street!

He was a revered mentor and father figure and he essentially shits on what would be the main role of such a person.

Makes me sick that Penn State will let him finish the season. It is clear they are forcing him out so why wait?
Let's give the board until Friday to make a final decision. This retirement at the end of the season doesn't sound to me like it is coming from the board. Sounds like it is from Paterno's camp.

well that's so nice of the administration to allow the enabler to leave with some dignity

Agreed. I have no loyalty or ties to JP. But I won't convict him until things are more clear. And obviously if things come out that show tht at JP was more involved and whatnot, he and his legacy can go frick themselves. But I'll refrain from judgment until then.

JP could've been held in the dark about it, or he could've been at the helm of it. We don't know at this point.

I definitely don't have a problem with him leaving though. And it's definitely better for PSU if he does.

what could he say to make sitting on child rape knowledge for a decade cool? Its not like he was told Sandusky was stealing ink pens and just forgot about it or that the punishment for stealing ink pens must have been met.

Didn't a reporter for the espn station in state college say that Sandusky was at a psu practice with a small child in 2007 and was working out on campus as late as last week. These fricks turned a blind eye to this for a decade.

this situation has moved beyond tragic to absurd.

I said it yesterday that retiring is the easy way. He should have been fired, on the spot. It is not that difficult.

I completely agree. Him continuing to coach deepens the black eye PSU already has, IMO.

Paterno's dignity is circling the bottom of that drain in the football shower room.

Where is the psu president in all of this. Too my knowledge he hasn't even made a statement yet. This guy had to have some knowledge and should be gone also. BOT should clean house now.

The whole staff should be fired IMO.

In the very least, Joe Pa's kin and McQueary should be out on their asses and anyone that was a part of the staff at the time these things happened. Harsh, but you have to clean house and give yourself a fresh start to move forward.

Paterno's legacy will end up about a mile below that of Woody Hayes when all this is over.

I don't understand that. I was going to start a thread a bout that and still might. How does someone decide that is the thing to do in this situation?

Chris Speilman talking about a recruiting visit he took to Sandusky's house and playing games with Foster Children Sandusky and his wife had.

Sends chills up my spine. No doubt in my mind this creep was abusing foster kids systematically. ZERO DOUBT (these are my words not spielman)
