I would be pissed if I was a Phillies pitcher. Girardi just put targets on their backs for other managers to check

The spin rate on baseballs is down dramatically. That's all anyone needs to know. It's working.
But managers shouldn't be able to use these random checks to throw off the pitcher's momentum. They need to have limits and times to check.

No he didn’t. There was already 1 out and he was all over the place after they checked him. Walked the next batter while throwing 3-4 balls a foot outta the zone. Got the 2nd out on a high outside fastball that was hit to right.
He threw 86 pitches through 4 innings. He was all over the place the whole night. Max was trying to get some sweat from his hair to grip the ball. Girardi noticed and had him checked. Max thought it was absurd (it was)

Stopping a player 3 times in 4 innings is a bit much, check in between innings not in the middle of one and make it random

Its worse than that and Manfred doing a good job of ensuring that. Right before girardi had him checked, Max had almost put 95 in the batter’s ear hole. He admittedly was having trouble with the ball and was going to his head for sweat
So basically, max puts a Philly hitter on his arse accidentally while trying to find some grip. All girardi sees is “oh shite, he may be cheating” and calls for the check. This is gonna get worse when these pitchers get tired of eating Rosin every night

Man that Spider-tack must have really been out of control because pitchers basically are all but admitting it in some cases and the spin rates have been significantly down almost across the board.
Hell the Tampa guy basically said now that I can't use it - that's why I got hurt. So basically yeah I was cheating but.....
