You can’t look at 2019 & think that 2018 was anything but a wasted year with joe burrow because of the way Ensminger called plays & chose his personnel

I can. I see a QB that only got to LSU in the summer.
I see a team that had been trying to transition for a couple years.
I think a lot of people who think a new offensive approach and a brand spanking new QB with no experience and no chemistry with the receivers to explode are going to be disappointed.
Just look at the improvement from Burrow & the passing game as 2018 progressed. All of this plays a roll in last year's progression. Heck, compare the Texas game to the last 4 games of the year. The passing game was massively improved by the end of the year.

So give Ensminger a chance

If he sticks with Brady’s philosophy, I agree..which I’m sure O will demand. Linehan will bring a few wrinkles also. Will we be as great as last year? Probably not...no one can replace Burrow and Chase...greatest QB/WR duo we will ever see. But adding Arik and Terrace/McMath with another year under their belt...the offense will be better than anything Les Miles could imagine.

Brady called plays in the red zone. Lsu stalled out on tons of drives in 2018 in the red zone. I'm concerned.

Not looking for him to explode

But he threw 16TDs in 13 games at 57%.

Again, there is some in between.

Then why didn't Burrow create Ensminger?

LSU's offense pre-Brady didn't suit Burrow's style of play. We were doing what we had been doing for years: Trying to make the guy fit the offense rather than making the offense fit the guy. Brady's offense fit Burrow to a t. But even more importantly, Burrow was so good (accurate, reading progressions, field general mentality) that he was one of few that could execute the complexities of that offense.

Anyway, I maintain that Brady brought the right offense but Burrow is really what made it work.

We had a very average to below average offensive line in 2018. Our wide receivers in 2018 were not ready either.

Average to below average defensive line in 2018... with little depth.

Very average to below average running backs as well in 2018.

Make no mistake about it. Those were the direct words of Coach O and I believe him. Will Brady do well in Carolina, probably, it’s only week 2 and he’s adjusting but I expect Ensminger to get the credit he deserves this season when our offense is clicking.

Yep I agree the unsung hero of our offense last year. What people don’t realize Coach E called plays on 1st and 2nd down and Brady had 3rd down and redzone. Jacob Hester, Cody Worsham and Gordy Rush some guys in the LSU media have been to the scrimmages and have stated the offense looks exactly the same. Linehan has been a great addition. He’s brought more concepts and wrinkles in our offense especially in the redzone.
I have full confidence in Steve!!

why do you even watch LSU football? You seem to hate everything associated with the program. Or are you just that miserable in every day life too?

It was basically the same exact players as 2019

They just played the best players in 2019. There’s a reason dillon & Sullivan didn’t play in 19’.

We have seen Ensminger running someone's offense alone before. Even with 3 first round picks in the backfield it did not go well. Good luck

We couldn’t complete a simple screen under Coach E. Was his offense the worst? Not at all. But there were some huge holes too.

Wasn't Ensminger supposed to be a temporary fix? Wasn't that what we were told? If Ensminger could've handled things on his own, there would've been no need to bring in Joe Brady. To his credit, Coach E. admitted that he needed help. He can call plays, but he had no idea how to design an offense, as evidenced by the fact that he has failed in every other opportunity as an OC in the past. Brady created the offense, designed the schemes, and put everything in place for Enmsinger to call the plays, if he really did. I have much respect for Coach Ensminger, but I don't feel that LSU will be able to maintain elite status with him leading the offense. I guess we will see next weekend.

Lol I’ve been one of a handful of posters to call LSU’s rise to power under O, starting in 2017.

I will always tell you how it is & not what you want to hear. So kindly frick off
