mgoblog is always fun to read. They have a blog post up right now, melting because Justin Fields takes online classes and he doesn't take academics seriously like all the Michigan players do. It's fricking hilarious to watch them pretend to be elite when they get their asses beat. It's their first reaction after yet another loss. And they really wonder why people can't stand them
Mgoblog is obnoxious... the UM boards are horrible, but so are the OSU and ND boards. The players get pushed through the classes. If you don't know it, you have never been in classes with the athletes. Show up maybe 1/3 of the class and have a great presentation or test score... yeah that's legit.

Are you talking about Ohio State or every school?
I agree that players get absolutely priority scheduling regardless of rank and all the tutoring and help they need. They have to attend class hence why some choose online courses. Upper level classes aren't available online so Fields will have to attend. And show up.

And LOL at the sanctimonious bullshite that Michigan fans try to portray. You shite on MgoBlog then go straight to their talking points
Congrats, you're a top 10 school or whatever the hell you are. Ohio State is a damn fine education in it's own right.
And if you think Michigan is turning away 4 and 5 star athletes that would qualify at Ohio State, I dont even know what to tell you.

hen turn around and beat his guys with your guys. There are *maybe* five coaches in the last 20 years who were good enough at the game to the point that the Bear myth might actually apply to them. OSU has had two of them, in Tressel and Meyer.
Then why did Tressel routinely get whipped by USC?
When they had equal talent and were side by side in the rankings, they got blown out.
When OSU clearly had more talent, Pryor and Co. they lost to a true freshman QB making his first start on the road. Tressel coached down his talent with his Tressel ball.

They really think Rashan Gary turned down $300k from another school to go to Michigan for free.

They got blown out by USC 1 time, and lost at home in a weird game by 3 points.

Tressel did fine against equal talent teams. He performed well against ND, Miami, Oregon, Texas etc. Where is this crap coming from

To the USC point--they had Carroll, who routinely beat up highly talented teams.
USC shut out Auburn in '03 and pounded OU by 5 TDs in '04. They convincingly beat highly talented UM and PSU teams in the Rose Bowl. Between all that they were winning the Pac-10 like nobody's business. They would've probably played in six straight BCS title games if not for some really untimely losses.
Yes, USC was recruiting better than anyone. But their talent alone doesn't give them multi-TD wins against several other elite recruiting programs. Carroll absolutely plays a part in that.
While I agree Tressel could've accomplished more, he still won 7 B10 titles and 5 BCS bowls (to say nothing of his dominance at YSU). I included him in my "Bear myth" comment above because that's essentially what he did in '02, taking a team that wasn't really "his" yet and guiding them to a 14-0 season, capped with a win in Ann Arbor (something Cooper never did if memory serves me right) and another over a stupidly good Miami team.
Good discussion.
EDIT: that win in Ann Arbor was in '01, not in '02. My bad.

Some people remember Florida and LSU, and think those are the only two games The Vest ever coached.

He beat Michigan once. But lost to Michigan State earlier in the year.

They rely on Ohio, PA, and the south for talent.
And?

Might pull 1-2 5 star recruits a year.
LSU pulls maybe 3. So, they are second tier as well.

Aside from his early teams, Tressel never seemed to have the talent level that Cooper did at OSU

2005 was the closest. That team was better than Tressel's 2002 championship team.

Idk that 02 team was loaded, I mean Clarett was a running back and he tracked down Sean Taylor. Will Smith, Chris Gamble, Will Allen, Mike Nugent, etc.
