I say rice all day and don’t see how it’s a question but a guy at work who I used to think was intelligent says he’d take moss without a doubt. Now deep ball wise moss was probably better but that is it literally everything else that goes into being a good receiver the edge has to go to rice. I’m not the crazy one right?

If you want to talk about who had the greater then it’s Rice hands down.

Moss was more freakishly athletic though

If I need one big play or someone to take over a game with sheer athleticism, I'm going Moss.

If I'm investing long term in a player and expect consistency, Rice.

Moss took a lot of plays off. You didn’t have to worry about that with Rice. Give me Jerry all day, every day.

Moss was obviously more athletic, with his Length, vertical, speed and put up his numbers with 17 different starting QBs during his career. Im not going to say ue was better than Rice though.

Take him for one play? One game? One season? One career? Those would be different answers for me

Rice but peak Moss was the most impactful WR of all-time. The Vikings went from the 11th highest scoring offense in the NFL with 354 points in 1997 to the highest scoring offense of all-time with 556 points in 1998. The Patriots went from the 7th high scoring offense in the NFL in 2006 with 385 points to the highest scoring offense of all-time with 589 points in 2007. That's two different offenses that had an increase of 200+ points and went from a decent to solid offense to historically great just by adding Moss to their team.

Peak Rice had 4 Super Bowl Rings and a Super Bowl MVP. He is the most impactful WR of all time.

Moss flipped the field and was a freak that nobody in the NFL could defend while playing with shitty QBs.

Jerry Rice is the ultimate professional who is going to be there everyday and do his thing and be reliable while playing with two of the greatest QBs of all-time.

So every GM would take Rice.

But if you were a GM for two years only and wanted to make an impact, you'd take Moss' prime peak 2 years over Jerry's.

Rice bc of attitude, preparation, and never taking a play off. That simple.

Need Rice to block too? Yep, he would do that.

Pass intercepted? He would stay in the play and try to make a tackle.

Moss would skip out on both those quite frequently.

Not to mention you can find many stories of Moss being an ahole, and none of JR.

Jerry took more 8-yard slants to the house than anybody.

Plus Jerry could catch anything.

Moss would Alligator arm passes over the middle while Rice was taking those over the middle in linebacker territory routes to the house.

But if you were a coach on shaky ground and needed to make an impact immediately for 2 years...it would be hard to pass on Moss - for 3-4 years he changed the game, flipped the field, old Raiders Cliff Branch...bombs away...nobody could cover what everyone knew was coming - the homerun.

If I was a GM and had a crappy QB and an average team...and my job is not secure...I'm taking Moss just save my job and make a splash.

If I work for the Pats and my job is secure and I'm thinking long-term, then obviously Rice.

Yea, if we are talking about if I got either one of them and was able to have them at their top level without any of the extra crap, just pure WR ability every single play without taking plays off, the answer is Moss.

If we are talking which WR do I want to have part of my franchise, easily Rice. Day in and day out he will produce more for me than Moss, and won't be the headache.

Rice and Berry. Moss is on the short list

Berry/Unitas made a sea-change in the passing game.

Moss had the disadvantage of playing with QB's like Todd Bouman, Gus Ferotte, Andrew Walter, Aaron Brooks, Spergin Wynn, Rusty Smith, Brian Hoyer, Jay Fiedler, Jeff George, Brad Johnson, Kerry Collins, Matt Cassel, Colin Kap washed up Brett Favre and Randall Cunningham. Of course Brady and Culpepper as well.

Jerry Rice had only Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jeff Garcia and I think 2 others.
