I just did the math, as far as power goes they are dead even in HR, they each hit 1 HR every 31 ABs. Church drives in an RBI every 6.9 ABs and Frenchy drives in an RBI every 6.8 ABs

I like that Church has walked 50 more times in 1000 fewer ABs. You're going to love Frenchy swinging at the first pitch after the pitcher had previously walked the bases loaded on 12 straight balls

glad to see franceour go, the modern day brad komminisk. nothing like planting him on a team on your own division. like injecting the flu on a person you dont like

So if Francoeur turns it around and becomes a guy that hits .280-.300 with 20-25 homers a year, does he become the most hated player in baseball by all Braves fans?

I think thats the main reason we went out and got him. He has a much much better OBP.

So, let's review: The Braves got a decent hitter and fielder who bats left-handed, and thus can platoon (or semi-platoon) with Matt Diaz in right field

This is what I think is the main reason we got him:

Church against Righties this year - .310 avg, .424 slugging, .360 OBP

Diaz against Lefties this year - .365 avg, .514 slugging with a .422 OBP

Jeff Franceour is simply not a major-league quality hitter. His "prodcution" is beyond atrocious. For a corner outfielder, it's fricking goddamn embarrassing.

...I'd like to know how Yunel Escobar's knee feels about this trade.

I'm in DC tonight. Will prob take train up to NYC tomorrow to personally kick Omar's arse myself.

I work with a bunch of Braves/Francoeur fans who have known him since high school. They were all sad today to hear he was traded. And scared. They know the Frenchy pain train is going to roll through Turner Field on the way to the pennant.

Just listened to an interview with Frenchy, he was a little choked up but trying to play it off at the same time. Chip said it was shocking but that he trusted Wren and JS to make the moves to make this team better. Church basically said thank the frick.

its obvious that the braves are looking more short term than long. IMO Francouer is all mental at the plate. He was putting wayyy too much pressure on himself. hopefully the church can give atlanta just enough pop to be at the top of division when its all said and done.
