Jaylen Brown accuses officials of having an agenda, says some need to be investigated.

Not even 24 hours after their historic loss, Jaylen Brown went live on Twitch and expressed his disappointment with the officiating during their series against the Sixers. In particular, he complained about always getting called for the offensive foul for pushing off his defender.
"They keep saying this push off and stuff like that. You know how many players do that? It's a common play, a basketball play. Every player does it, so why are you targeting me? Clearly had an agenda, maybe because I spoke and was critical of the refs in the regular season…I've actually spoken, and they said there was an agenda going to each game. Anytime Jaylen brings his arm up, just from reputation, just call it. Paul George does the same thing. Jalen Brunson does the same thing. I can go down the list,” he said.
quote:
"Some referees that, if I had to choose, if I had to say this, there's some that referees need to be investigated. Like just overall, out of all the officiating. We had three of them in the last three games…on top of my list," he added.
quote:
“It was tough,” said Brown during the postgame press conference. “Embiid put a lot of pressure on us, like all our bigs and our guards, like we didn’t really have an answer for him. We tried a bunch of different things. He just… he’s a big body. He was also flopping around. He got some extra calls and stuff like that, and they rewarded him for that. But you know, that’s the league that we’re in."

I'll give him this, I'd much rather hear an eloquent athlete complain.

Dude’s team just blew a 3-1 lead, with a hurt Embiid down the stretch of the last game (while still jacking up 3’s), and his response is… go on Twitch and whine?

he is not wrong. NBA refs are trash. always have been. They protect certain players.

I watched the last 2 games of this series, and the C's, in particular Jaylen Brown only have themselves to blame. They let a cripple beat them, and they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in either game.

Celtics got all the calls in game 7 too

i’d argue the game of basketball in its current form with current players (strength, speed and size wise) is just a sport that’s almost impossible to actually officiate. it’s already so fast and so much happening in tight spaces, but you add in dramatic head whips and body flopping it’s almost always guessing
when games come down to a handful of possessions and the sport awards free points regularly throughout the game on just guessing calls I don’t think it’s a very serious sport and should be treated by fans as such…it’s amusing to put on and watch in the background, but getting emotionally invested or angry at the randomness it’s not worth jt

Don’t do this after the fact. He’s right there are agendas even game to game, the NBA’s corrupt officiating is well documented and part of its DNA the past 25 years or so but he should call it out during the series. That’s been the more successful approach.

I listened to NBA Radio this morning. Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine were saying Nick Nurse cut up like hundreds of clips of Brown charging and sent it to the league office telling them what to look out for.

Boston got refs for decades. They got crazy refs in 2024; rich coming Jaylen Brown, but of course, he's not paid for his brain. When you lose by 16 at home, 13 on the road, and lose by 9 at home (it was only that close because of a ref-aided comeback by Boston), you have zero right to complain about refs. Free-throws were about even, despite Boston jacking up 50 threes per game. BTW, nice assist to turnover ratio by Jaylen.

I can see why Brown is upset because they just now decided to start calling him on that bs which the NBA has allowed to go on for far too long. It honestly changed the outcome of the Sixers series. Him and SGA consistently use their forearm to shove defenders out of the way. And a ton of other players do it too. Can’t blame them for it when the trash nba refs allow it much like traveling and palming. But it’s hilarious that they decided to finally start calling it against Brown. Clown stuff.

No, Boston lost by 14, 16, 13, 9 - it did not change the outcome of the series. Maybe play better? Again, Boston got almost every call in 2024. The Warriors destroyed them in 2022, despite refs wearing the Green. It's comical to see Celtics and Fakers fans blaming refs. But most of them are bandwagon fans who have never been to either city, so I can see why people view things simplistically. LSU/Bama fans love to blame refs in general, so this tracks.
Boston lost, and none of the games were close. The refs prevented Boston from losing by 15+ in Game Seven.

In the Celtics-76ers series, the foul calls were relatively even between the two teams. The Celtics were called for 136 personal fouls, the Sixers were called for 132.

With the Celtics jacking up 50+ threes per game. Again, Brown is not paid for his brain; he just won the genetic lottery. That's it.

I don’t get why everyone is hating on Brown in this.
He is absolutely correct in that selective enforcement is a major problem.
It is a “common basketball play” in today’s game so if you are going to call it on him SGA and the rest have to have it call on them or else they are targeting brown.

Celtics tears are some of the best. Perfect salt level.
