Jay Williams has been pro LeBron for some time now, even in GOAT conversations. This might be one of the few instances where could be loyal to a fault.

Who cares if you speak out about issues when you're borderline retarded.

I don't want Corky from Life Goes On explaining the Universe to me and I don't want a guy who wanted to drop out of high school and wears a Safety pin lecturing me about history and social issues.

As long as athletes speak out on social issues like they're being oppressed in some way, I will continue to not watch their respective sports.

Kareem has done a lot more for civil rights than LeBron has. How come he isn't considered the GOAT by Jay?

Kareem and Bill Russell should be Jay Williams GOAT basketball players then. LeBron doesn’t hold a candle to them in on court success and activism.

Michael Jordan made the NBA global. And arguably is the first real global sports star. Jay Williams is an absolute idiot.

Major 3 sports who am I missing? You had your tennis stars and Ali.

Point being he took NBA to a global level and helped make NIKE the powerhouse they are today.

Big difference between greatest basketball player and greatest social justice warrior. Players can speak out or not speak about world issues but I don’t really give a shite on what a celebrity or athlete has to say on politics. People like Jay Williams value what athletes have to say on world views more then what they do in their sport.
Oh and Michael Jordan > Lebron James

I actually think stuff like this is a detriment for professional athletes because, unless they're bums with nothing to lose like Kaep, it ensures to alienate a big portion of that professional athlete's audience and detract a bunch from their greatness. Also, if that athlete takes a stand yet demonstrates that he or she is not educated on the topic they address, that instance detracts from that athlete's argument even more.

LeBron's a corporate shill for China and plays in a liberal sports organization, none of his social activism bullshite cost him anything, he's not the GOAT.

Ok. You’re good.

I thought you were just omitting Ali.

All that “I will not just shut up and play basketball” nonsense got completely exposed with his comments on China. When it involved HIS income taking a hit, in fact, he railed against an owner for taking a stand against them. One of the most hypocritical actions I have ever seen from an athlete that “speaks out on social issues”
