It's about time for me to be a grown up here and let go of the hate for anything Bama in regards to Jalen Hurts. I admit my only reason for disliking him is because he comes from Bama. If he'd have gone to OU for 4 years I would have probably liked him as soon as he was done there. I never thought he had the ability to be at the level he is in the NFL. I figured once he left bama he was done. His transformation at OU was unbelievable. So glad LSU drummed them in the peach bowl. He is a stud, and last night pretty much sealed it for me. He has earned my respect, even though my respect doesn't mean anything to him, or anyone else for that matter. I just have to admit it now. He is better than good, and he has proved it this season, and throughout the playoffs. Lincoln Riley turned this guy into Super Man.

He has consistently done things the right way. He didn't bitch at all when he got benched, and then came through in the clutch for his teammates against Georgia the next season. He is humble and hard working. He is a very likeable player.

Also, I couldn't agree more about Riley, who might be the best developer of college QB talent since, I don't know, Lavell Edwards. I'd say he is even better than Spurrier at this point.

This. This has been staring me in the face since he got pulled at Bama. Since he came back and led them. Since he went to OU and tore it up. He is very likeable, very hard working, very humble. I had all that, and still held on to....He's from Bama...frick him. But I cant deny that guy anymore.

I do not think either Bama or OU can take much credit, he is a much better passer in the NFL than he was at either school. More than likely he is just a late boomer as a passer and the fact he can work on it full time as an NFL pro with the best in the world has made him this good.

He was the best player on the field last night. He made 1 mistake in the 1st half, and it wound up being the difference. But he threw for over 300 yards with a TD and no picks, ran for 70, tied a Super Bowl record with 3 rushing TDs and added a 2-point conversion run that was basically sheer will.

I knew there was no chance they’d do it, but there was certainly an argument for him winning the MVP.

The dude has been on 3 of my top 10 and i have nothing but mad respect for him and his game as well as how he's conducted himself.

It's mind blowing ot me how much, and how quickly, he progressed as a passer.

Honestly the Hurts at bama was nothing more than a runner that played the QB position. The times I saw him throw it was as underwhelming as cna be, which came to a head in the title game when he was so wretchedly, indescribably bad he was benched after leading his team to literally zero points.

To fast forward just a few years later and he's throwing it all over the place accurately in the NFL it's almost like it's not even the same guy. One of the very very rare cases I can recall of a guy not being a good passer in college that actually ended up being a good passer at the next level. Those guys typically flame out extremely fast.

He is the only reason I was not 100% for KC - I like both Hurts and Mahones, but otherwise I hate the eagles = may be where they are from.

Agreed. Outplayed Mahomes fairly substantially. Reid schemed his arse off for KC last night and created some really easy scores.

Hurts us a winner for sure. Solid high character guy.

I do wonder why he didn’t post a workout video last night after the game though. Lol.

Did you block the 2018 SECCG out of your memory?

He didn’t do anything mind blowing last night. And besides the fumble, he didn’t make and huge mistakes either… He’s an average/slightly above average QB who benefits a ton from a good offensive scheme and play calling

of course not, but that game did nothing to dispel the fact he wasn't a good passer. He came in late in the game against a tired and gassed defense and mostly had success running around on us, which was his forte.

This may be the best team around him he will get as well as a lot of people are going to get paid after this run. Will be interesting to see if he takes the Mahomes route or the Kapernick route (not talking about the activism, but the drop in effectiveness.)

I'm a huge fan when it's easy not to be because of the Bama ties. Dude is the ideal model for professionalism, leadership and poise. Rare these days indeed. Other than Burrow he's my favorite QB in the league. Wish he weren't an Eagle but I'm a fan regardless.

Gassed? Bama had three 3 and outs, a 5 play drive that ended in an INT, and a 4 play scoring drive before Hurts came in. 18 snaps.

Jalen went 7/9 for 82 yards and a touchdown. And those passes weren't dumpoffs or screens. 5 rushes for 28 yards. and it was do or die. No way in hell he would have done that in 2017, or 2018.

Idk why this has got your goat so badly. Yes, gassed. Do you think a defense would have more trouble late in a game if they'd been playing tom brady all game then had to play lamar jackson? Our defense had prepped for tua and had mostly contained him all game. Late in ballgames, crazy as it sounds, defenses are probably tired. So remove tua and bring in a guy whose main ability is his escapabiliyt and running.

Again, that 2018 game was nothing to suggest "hey this guy couldn't throw for shite last yera but wow he definitely can now!" He performed well, but he was still not nearly the passer he'd ultimatley become and is today.

That's exactly what it suggested to Bama fans who'd watched every snap he'd taken for the 2 years leading up to that moment.

He was making progress with Enos during his last year at Bama, but still had a long ways to go.

I thought he improved at OU, but was still not a guy who seemed like he could play at the NFL level.

Not sure if he picked up a new QB coach or what, but his downfield touch changed dramatically when he hit the NFL. There is no way he makes some of the 30-40 yard throws with touch he connected on yesterday when he was a sophomore in Tuscaloosa.
