Like there are actually people who think Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer lol. Dude is beating up celebrities and small mma fighters with glass jaws from years of damage. Dude wouldn’t sniff the top 50 or even 100 in any boxing class

quote:He has power, but he’s not a phenomenal striker. If he didn’t have the threat of the takedown, he would be terrible. The fact that he is a takedown threat helps his striking in an MMA match.
Tyron Woodley has knocked out 7 guys in major promotions. He’s a phenomenal striker, idgaf if you’re delusional enough to disagree, but a guy who’s knocking out UFC fighters knows what he’s doing on his feet.
quote:Striking in boxing and striking in MMA is completely different. An amateur MMA fighter trying to take on a pro MMA fighter in an MMA fight is going to lose. But there are thousands of low level boxers who could beat pro MMA fighters in a boxing match.
There 1000’s of guys who have been training for way longer and are way more talented than Jake Paul who try to legitimately beat pro fighters in real MMA gyms on a monthly basis and those guys get their shite rocked every single time.
quote:Kabib is a world-class wrestler you dumb frick. Thanks for proving my point. He’s elite at wrestling.
There are still BJJ “””blue and white belts””” in the UFC who are phenomenal grapplers. Those guys aren’t training in the gi and trying to get promoted. Khabib is a white belt in BJJ. Belt color has nothing to do with skill
quote:Elite high schoolers, yeah, they are. Do you think Ben Askren isn’t getting his arse knocked out by 18 year old Mike Tyson? Do you think a million pro MMA fighters who can strike but can’t stop a takedown to save their life is beating 18 year old Cael Sanderson in a wrestling match? Not a chance in hell.
And yea, UFC fighters in 2011 weren’t losing a wrestling match or a boxing match to high schoolers
quote:That’s just not true. I don’t know what else to say. They’re “good” at everything in an MMA match, but they get their shite pushed in against specialists. Only a handful of UFC fighters have a chance at ADCC. Only a handful are Olympic-level wrestlers and Judo players. And almost all of those guys who are elite in a discipline are not very well-rounded.
Yes they are. I’m sure you’ve spent so much time on the mats and you clearly know what you’re talking about, but UFC fighters are in fact good at everything, especially in 2017 when Woodley was still actively competing for a title shot
quote:You don’t know anything about me, and don’t have a clue how wrong you are.
maybe if you’re a fricking moron who hasn’t ever trained and gets all of his info from the Tigerdroppings more sports board.
quote:A better comparison would be if you practiced free throws for 2 years and beat Russell Westbrook in a free throw contest. But logic isn’t your strong suit.
A youtuber with 2 years of boxing has about as good of a chance of beating a 2017 UFC title contender in a boxing match as I do playing pickup basketball for 2 years and beating Russell Westbrook in a pickup basketball game.

Hard for me to believe this is even thing. A journeyman sparing partner in a top gym would break either one of these glamour hoes over like a bitch

Your arguments don’t make sense in the context of Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley. How are we at ADCC level specialists vs. UFC fighters now? Or Olympic level judokas? We’re talking about a guy who’s been casually boxing for two years against an ex UFC fighter who’s been training at American Top Team for 10+ years, which in case you’re not aware, has pretty good boxing coaches.
Jake. Paul. Is. Not. A. fricking. Specialist, dumbass. Not sure how much more clear I need to make that. Your rambling bullshite about ADCC level grapplers doesn’t change that
You’re more than welcome to keep pretending that you train and “I don’t know you” but you’re either a white belt who’s pretending to know way more about the fight game as a whole than you actually do, or a total fricking moron who just likes to argue. There’s no inbetween, I don’t know a single person who’s spent time on the mats who thinks like you do, it’s embarrassing and you come across as a fricking tard

And no, it’s actually not a better comparison at all. You picked the one aspect of basketball that the average person would have even a remote chance of beating an NBA player at, and guess what? 99.99999999% of people would have absolutely no shot in that situation. You’re a really stupid motherfricker to be telling people that they “couldn’t be more wrong”

quote:And Shaq has shot a gazillion free throws in his life with the best coaches in the world and still blows at free throw shooting. Tyron Woodley was a good mixed martial artist because he was an All-American wrestler, not because he was any good throwing hands. And again, boxing for mixed martial arts is completely different from boxing under queensbury rules. If you haven’t been training for years specifically for boxing under boxing rules, you’re gonna have trouble against someone who only boxes.

quote:He’s a specialist in the sense that he only trains in boxing. You’re the one who claimed MMA fighters are good at everything. I’m saying that’s not true. They’re well-rounded in that they are at least passable at everything, but unless they already specialized in something before they got into MMA (like wrestling), they’re not necessarily that good compared to guys who only train in one discipline.

This isnt true. The dude has endless resources and money and has been training hard for years with a great team to use his fame to work the system and make alot of money. Kudos to him. He has put in enough work and has enough athletic ability to knockout a basketball player, a wrestler that came off of hip surgery that has some of the worst hands in mma history, and tyron, a guy that is washed up and forgot how to fight. Tyron has been apprehensive and scared to fight since he won the belt thats why people hated his fighting style. He was never a real skilled striker he would use the threat of takedowns to land overhand rights.
Lets see him fight some guys that like to throw. Vitor, mike perry, anderson silva. All guys that have beat boxers in the ring. He isnt gonna beat any decent boxers that are his size.
I still wouldnt be surprised if these fights are rigged. I could def see tyron taking a dive for the payday.

I'd like to see Paul vs Masvidal.
Jorge says he walks around about 185-190, so he wouldn't have to cut any weight for a fight.
I'd also try to make the fight a catch weight at 180 or so, so Paul actually had to make a decent weight cut. He looks about 205-210 in that clip against Woodley, who used to fight at 170, but probably walks around at about 200 or so.
Problem is, Dana will never let Jorge have that fight, so it's all just a fantasy anyway.
If Paul had to fight a guy like Jan Blejovic or Paulo Costa, he'd likely get murdered. He'd never been in the ring with guys with that kind of power who are that much bigger than him.

Don't care what anyone says, Paul flattened that mf flush

The thing is, it was a perfectly timed punch. Paul was winding up before Wooey event dropped his left for the opening.
I think Paul was actually stunned it hit, that's why he looked so shocked.

I just wanna see him against an actual boxer, doesn't even have to be a contender maybe someone from a local gym who just needs a shot, like Rocky Balboa
Posted on 12/20/21 at 11:19 am to SaintlyTiger
thats how we fight up here in northeast ohio ,,,both the Paul boys from Cleveland . not many "celebs" who talk shite can back it up , but JP dont put up with no bullshite .

To be fair, Paul tried to fight Tommy Fury and then Fury pulled out with “an injury” at the last minute.

By the way they were shooting crowd footage to be used for Creed 3
