A lot of times a crazy good team with incredible talent will have an unbelievable year in the regular season and then inexplicably shite the bed in the postseason. The following year, that same school will have a less talented but more experienced team that ends up winning it all.

Texas was incredible in 2004 but lost the CWS finals to a less talented Cal Sate Fullerton team. Texas wasn’t as talented in 2005 but ended up winning it all and going 5-0 in Omaha.

Vanderbilt did it 2013 by breaking a record for SEC games won and then failed to make it to Omaha. They returned to Omaha and won it all with a less talented team in 2014.

Virginia did this cycle in 2014 and 2015

Florida did this cycle in 2016 and 2017.

Maybe this year will be Arkansas’s turn to do it? They were the #1 team all year last year and then shite the bed and failed to get to Omaha. They look fantastic at the CWS right now after hammering Stanford.

Maybe next year will be Tennessee’s turn.

LSU went 57-11 in 2013 but went 0-2 in Omaha then came back in 2014 and lost in a home regional to Houston.

Vandy in 13.
South Carolina in 00.
A&M in 89 and 93.

LSU has never been the favorite in the championship game. Maybe 97 because Bama used an extra pitcher and Vaz was out.

It’s our turn.

Vanderbilt had an even better regular season than LSU in 2013

Tennessee had old position players this year, but not necessarily experienced ones.

Their 2b, 3b, and SS were all three and 4 year guys but didn’t have 100 ABs combined coming in. Their catcher was a 5th year guy but in his 1st as a catcher.

They’re going to lose a lot of experience off this roster. They’ll have platoon and reserve guys to step into spots, and Ahuna has a lot of regular season experience.

They will return 3 starting pitchers plus their mid week starter though, and they’ll get two big arms back in the bullpen that sat out with injuries this year.

Their catcher spot could be a real problem though if the juco kid they got doesn’t pan out.

Vandy went 26-3 in the SEC

LSU was 23-7

Vandy went 48-7 overall

LSU went 48-8

2013 was one of LSU's best teams of all time.

2015 LSU went 54-12 but went 1-2 in Omaha

LSU came back in 2016 with a less talented team and lost in a home super regional.

If only this worked for LSU too.

Yep, and Vandy was better. Your information proves my point. It includes postseason wins, which gives LSU’s record a boost even though Vandy’s record is still better regardless. Vandy had a better regular season.

The two realities are not mutually exclusive.

Virginia wasn't the best team in 2014.

They don’t have to be. My point is still true. They were really good in 2014 but failed to win the whole thing. They had a lesser team in 2015 that was more experienced and won it all.

That’s irrelevant. It was during the postseason in the last game of the SEC Tournament. You’re trying to deflect the conversation to irrelevant points. Vandy was still better during the regular season. They faltered during the NCAA tournament and then came back and won it all with a lesser team in 2014.

But LSU in 2013 apparently has to be.

That 8th inning in the first regional final match still haunts me to this day. Maineiri rolled with McCune for about two batters too long because he finished the SEC Tournament Championship game a week earlier.

Further proof that winning your conference tourney hurts you alot more than it helps. Look who won the conference tourneys this year

Mainieri thought LSU had the game in the bag up 4-0 in the 8th and wanted to give McCune a Senior victory lap. Instead of going to his lockdown closer Broussard for 6 outs to close it out. Extremely lazy coaching.

You’re arguing just to argue. It doesn’t have to hold true every single time in order to be a trend. My OP had nothing to do with 2013 LSU. You’re either trolling or you can’t think critically at all
