I don’t know if dignity was regained or if they called his bluff and told him to frick off.

The fanboys are trying to spin this but the truth is he wants the job but didn’t want a 3 year deal in where he was basically LeBrons babysitter. The problem is that’s exactly what he is. He’s never proven anything outside of being able to temper LeBrons fits and hold his hand. The Lakers are catching a lot of heat for this but it’s coming from the media who are loyal to LeBron above all. There’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing and really they should try to trade him. The trouble with that is the market isn’t nearly what people believe it is for LeBron, no stars want to play with him, he’s a front office nightmare and only a few teams would be able to do it anyway.

He probably wants to rejoin LAs real team the Clips instead of suffering under Linda Rambis

It's the same problem as any star who plays with Lebron - you get none of the credit when you win but all the blame when you lose.

Less years and they want to choose your assistants, how are you gonna have any credibility or authority.

This. The Lakers offered him a bullshite deal. No self respecting NBA title winning coach should take a crap deal like that. It’s not even a good deal for a retread who has done nothing in his career.

I also don’t get why people are trying to pin this on LeBron. The Lakers front office is a massive shot show and will be for the forceable future.

Think he knows once Lebrun retires it’s his last NBA head coaching job so he is trying to get as many years as he can.

Sounds like Lue has a healthy dose of common sense.

He’s using whatever leverage he has considering he likely could be putting his coaching career on the line here. Hard to bounce back from getting fired twice in 2-3 seasons (IF he fails, not saying he will), and he knows the absolute chaos he’s walking into.

With the lead assistant being Jason Kidd. Lue would have been volunteering himself to be stabbed in the back if he went along with this

Lue is a terrible coach, but I can respect the move since he nearly died the first time with Bron Bron
