Moss was like watching a video game come to life when he played for the Vikings.

Everyone in the stadium knew he was getting it and the fricker was still wide open on Go routes.

I mean, every mediocre QB could just chuck it up to him.

Which its why its still (hold your breath) somewhat shocking him and Brady didn't connect on that last ditch bomb against the Giants in Super Bowl XLII. You just felt, even though he was double-covered, well Moss will come down with it.

He was the most explosive, and one of the best WRs of all time.

He no doubt was explosive. But I think what made Randy...Randy, was his acceleration, top end speed, and leaping ability--all in a 6'4" frame.

When I think pure "explosiveness," I include those thinks but then also add things like start/stop, burst, maintaining top speed while making cuts. I mean, Tyreek hill get to chopping his feet to make cut on an in-breaking route and absolutely loses people in a way I've never seen before.

Listen, I love Randy Moss so much. Favorite player ever to watch. But think about it--Tyreek is literally half a foot shorter than him, yet cannot be guarded. Its because he is a 1 of 1 athlete.

agree with this.

i associate Moss more with the term 'unstoppable' rather than 'explosive', which is more suited to reek.

Yeah lets be clear here. Randy Moss is the #2 WR of all time. Tyreek isn't in his class as an overall WR.

But as an explosive athlete? Tyreek is 2nd to none. CBs are the objectively fastest position group in the NFL. There is not a single one that can even remotely run and turn with Tyreek when he's on a Go route.

Teams will still play single high safety against the Dolphins.

OK...so defensive coordinators do dumb shite sometimes. Thats hardly an argument against Tyreek's explosiveness.

He's probably the most explosive athlete the NFL has ever had in terms of speed/burst/agility.

Can you imagine Tyreek coming over the middle and getting laid out in 80s / 90s with his puny build.

Tyreke is plenty thick for a WR. He’s just only 5’10.” He played running back in college. 190 at his height is not “puny” for a wide receiver. He has basically the same measurements as Steve Smith did

Super Bowl is a team accomplishment. It’s irrelevant to the OP/thread.

Just came here to point out that Paul Warfield has a 20.1 yds/catch average for his career - the highest of any receiver with at least 300 receptions.

Exactly. Moss was a more dangerous receiver and the scariest WR ever, but a lot of that was his straightline speed and jumping at 6-4.

That's why I was specific with in terms of speed/burst/agility. The 2nd 2 Hill has a clear advantage, especially agility. Moss was never really agile at all, and I didn't include jumping.
