Is there a bigger beneficiary throughout CFB conference realignment era than Texas Tech?

All they had to do was absolutely nothing. They just stayed put while all the contenders in their conference fled to better ones.

Nebraska
Missouri
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma

They were all replaced with a bunch of misfits. Now they finally get to flex their financial muscle and sleepwalk to playoffs every year in a “power” conference. Last year the toughest tests on their entire schedule were Mountain West Utah and BYU then got blown out in the playoff and this year their toughest test on their whole schedule is American Athletic Houston on their cakewalk to another Big 12 title and playoff embarrassment.

TCU went from G5 to the national championship game in under a decade

They were paper frogs though. It’s not like they had/have any staying power

Beneficiaries of a weak conference to my point

They were completely outclassed by Georgia but they won their games and a cfb playoff game. What more did you want?

Without NIL, I think Tech would be middle of the pack in the modern Big XII.

He's obviously talking long term. Not lighting in the bottle season.

I bet they could go back to the Big XII if they want.

I hope one day I'll have to stop telling people this.... IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
So no, they wouldn't.

The Tech fans I know are happy with their record this season but also know this team hasn’t done anything special yet and probably won’t go far in the playoffs, if they make it.

The game in November vs OK State should be entertaining.

Odd melt. I love seeing non traditional teams compete. Now that they are on a level playing field with the blue bloods, the blue bloods are struggling.

Yes, I know that. We all do. That was my point. If those schools really cared about winning championships they could. They care about money.
