The true West Coast Offense use very little shotgun right? Almost everyone is out of the gun now.

Depends. Bill Walsh ran a ton out of a two back set.
Reid is the great 'shotgun addition' innovator of the West Coast concepts.
You don't recognize the offense because the presnap sets look different, but the principles, the timing, the route tree-- they're the same.

Seifort was a defensive coach

That was a Bill Walsh thing, said he never wanted his QB (Montana) to take his eyes off the defense.

The most successful NFL team of the past decade runs it. Andy Reid was one of the main west coast guys going back to his time coaching with Holmgren. Like anything else it’s been modernized, but there’s nothing new about the principle or schemes.

Guys like Gruden still run a very 90s/early 00s version of the offense. Lots of fullback. Lots of power runs and toss.
Gruden really lovea it though because the play calls are so complicated.
BTW, Harbaugh is also a WCO guy.

You rarely so Montana or Young in the shotgun.
