Is the NFL over-officiated?

Feels like there are more and more judgment-based calls these days, where some obscure rule gets pulled out of the rulebook. And with almost everything subject to replay, you can slow down and zoom in on just about any play and make an argument that it’s penalty-worthy.
I miss being able to watch a great play or a big score and celebrate immediately without having to wait for someone to slow it down, zoom in, and find something before we know if it counts.

100% yes. It’s the biggest problem. They’ve gotten so granular on things like “what is a catch” that it’s borderline impossible to know wtf is going on.

Like another poster said, you can over analyze anything in slow motion and find a centimeter of something that might could be considered not a catch or first down. Just play the freaking game.

The Jared Goff forward pass ruling is Exhibit A. Wild there is an actual rule stating if the quarterback intended to throw the ball forward than it doesn’t matter where the ball actually went. Why stop at passes then? Most ball carriers don’t intend to fumble. Can we overrule those now?

When Goodell and the PTB in the NFL have made it their mission to get rid of the one thing that makes football great - violence - you get more and more BS calls and rules.

They are master manipulators managing those over unders. They know when a penalty will really hurt and change 3’s to 7s and vice versa

And pass interference is the call that chaps my arse. You cant even look at the WR without getting hit a penalty

Between the tuck rule and this just eliminate a QB from ever fumbling in the pocket. I can’t believe this crazy rule is in plane. “Intent”.

I really think the definition of "indisputable" needs to be relearned
