Interview 100 college football fans and ask them the top 10 blue blood football programs. Texas is one of them.

So you rank them 9 or 10?

BTW, you can scour the internet, almost every sports publication lists 8 Blue Blood programs...just 8.

In no order:

Nebraska
Texas
Alabama
Michigan
USC
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma

That's generally considered the Royalty of CFB.

I think you can drop Nebraska off that list. Haven't been relevant for years.

Doesn't matter.

Their history makes them a blueblood.

Nobility is never erased once you earn it. The past never fades.

Everybody had 100 years to show they were a blueblood and now that's set in stone.

Except Alabama. They're quantum level better than everyone else and yet there are wags on the rant who say with a straight face that LSU will beat them in 2 weeks, after LOSING tonight ??

So... Army, Pitt, and Minnesota are blue bloods?

I listed the bluebloods.

Those 8 teams performed over a century...not just 20 years.

But in today's climate...it's what have you done for me lately.

Once a blueblood, always a blueblood.

Minny was never a blueblood - nor Army, they didn't sustain it over a long period.

I would consider any top ten program to be a blue blood

Minnesota has 4 AP national titles from 1936-1960.

They have more AP titles than Texas, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn. They have the same amount of AP titles as Nebraska. From 1927-1967 they won 10 Big 10 titles and have 18 overall.

How do you take blueblood status from them if it's "Once a blueblood always a blueblood"?

Michigan has to be up there.

One shared National Title twenty years ago, then you have to go back nearly another 50 years.

They have a coach that we're told is the next great thing, pretty much every other hire. Most of us are still waiting-- and all of this, despite having one real game a year on that schedule.

Why are you even arguing Texas as a blue blood? The OP called them as such. Everyone knows they are. He asked if they are overrated.

When you consider how much their power, influence and money are regarded compared to the rest of the country's programs, you can argue they are overrated relative to expectations.

They're behind everyone else on your blue blood list in claimed national titles and are noticeably behind Oklahoma in conference titles.
