She did a terrible job doing her PR. She could have 100% gone on every talkshow the next week saying it was not true etc. etc.

You act like people haven't gotten famous from having sex before rightly or wrongly

Did you ever think that she is a normal college girl that this all of a sudden happened to, ruined her life very quickly, and she did not want to go on TV and make a spectacle of herself.

She talked to her rich parents and her boyfriends rich parents and everyone said to lawyer up so she did

Alright, I know that she, her family, and the boyfriend made statements denying it... Has the BF's dad ever made any statement?

His post has more upvotes than downvotes. I am perplexed.

These people are crazy.

This girl was a rich, hot college girl that likely had a pretty nice life. Some a-hole posts (makes up?) a rumor about her fricking her boyfriend's dad. Normally a few people might see it and laugh about it.

It spreads across the entire world instead and is talked about on ESPN. The girl's life is ruined.

They expect her to be like "Well here is my moment!!"

Porn, only fans, and social media have completely warped people’s brains

This is just a touch dramatic. I would imagine most people have not thought once about this girl since the week all that stuff went down, then she put her name back out there and she's the topic de jour. I'd also venture most people will go back to not thinking about her tomorrow. This story isn't going to keep her from getting jobs and living her life.

Her college life is absolutely ruined. Yes I would agree it's not going to follow her forever though.

She can transfer to a better school than Ole Miss If she stays there, it's on her.

ETA Yes I agree that her college life there is fricked. It's a small town of snobs that will hold on to something like this forever. That especially sucks for her if she had some strong attachment to the school.

Being forced to uproot from your friends and curriculum to attend another school is sort of the definition of ruined.

Perhaps but anyone that googles her name for the rest of her life it will come up as "Dad fricker". For a pretty, rich, college girl that again has probably had a pretty good life by all appearances...

She may not want to go on TV and say "I didn't frick my boyfriends dad"

How many acquaintance's names have you really googled though? Maybe I'm the weirdo, but that's not something that crosses my mind, even when we hire on new people at work.

It is done quite often by potential employers.

I won't say that I do it often because I am old but I am told that many 20 somethings do it when they meet someone pretty much 100% of the time (at least that is what my 20 something inlaws have told me)

Regardless the argument being made is that it is quite understandable why this college girl didn't go on a nationwide PR blitz to get herself famous over this

Even if she did bang the dad, so what? Why are sports shows talking about it?

You're perplexed because you are being very emotional about something that doesn't need to be emotional for everyone.

It happened, whether it should have or not. It was either true or it wasn't. You can either dispel the rumors or let the media run with it. She let the media run with it for days/weeks without doing anything.

You hire an attorney when something this big happens and listen to that expert's advice about the situation. The lawyer would be non-emotional and would help to get the message out correctly.

It wasn't just going to "go away" without doing something about it. She didn't do anything she or her family/his family should have done to quell this at the beginning. If she is rich, she should have used $100k to lawyer up and get in front of it

They have been saying this along with the FBI and local police finding out who was behind all of this for awhile, but nothing has really come from them proving it was all false. They did start a gofundme for other victims of online harassment who don’t have the resources they have, but for some reason they couldn’t start the org without a gofundme.

Not sure if the boyfriend’s dad has made a statement or not. He looked worse in the story than the girlfriend.

I never saw the fakes of anything sexual or fake nudes of the girl, but I also have not read that the screen shots of texts or snapchats or maybe YikYak were AI. The words can be still false, but they should help lead to who started it. If story ends up being false I would like to know what motivated these students to push out a story like this.

The story was going around without McAfee’s help, but he must be associated with the most money. I will look forward to them proving stories were false in court, and that McAFee defamed her knowing or should have known it was false and made up. I think the family can still win without latter, but it may not be the victory she wants.

Did she and the dad go to that basketball game together and then go out to eat or wherever they allegedly went afterwards?

If that’s not true the whole story falls apart.
