They were a better team than Clemson and blew the game. Clemson was average on defense without 3 1st rders on defense.

OSU would have been a better match up against LSU as they had a better defense and run game than Clemson.

What year are we talking? 2016, yes comparatively.

2019, not even close.

Ohio State has amazing athletes and the speed gap between conferences is minimal.

OSU had a great team, but Clemson had great players as well that made the critical plays. OSU’s head coach is a sore loser. Never seen someone whine so much after a playoff loss.

The rest of the Big Ten is slow per capita compared to the SEC and other elite teams.

Ohio State is not. They’ve lapped the rest of the conference from a talent and development standpoint and have a roster as good as anyone in the country.

Tressel had some teams that looked slow in the front seven. Meyer changed that.

Not sure which game you guys watched, but in the 12/30/19 game I watched both Etienne and Lawrence has better lateral and vertical speed than anyone in the OSU defense. Likewise, neither could run around or away from the LSU defense. OSU had a great team. They had a ton of big , string guys on defense. They had good speed on defense. They allowed three game breaking plays from long distance , which a fast defense should never give up. I think OSU has individual players with excellent speed, but most of their from 7 doesn’t move well laterally, especially their linebackers. Playing an explosive team with real speed finally caught them. Watch Queen and Phillips against Clemson. Watch LSU’s front 7 in general against Clemson. The difference in lateral speed is significant. If you can’t see it then you have watched too much Big 10 football. On the flip side, I think that Dobbins is a big , strong RB. I also watched at least 4 RBs in the SEC who are better. He can’t touch N’jee Harris, who I think was the best RB in the country last year and will be the 2020 Heisman winner. Harris,Swift,Perrin, the MSU RB and the OM RB would not have been caught from behind by Clemson. OSU had the best run blocking offensive line in 2019, often getting to the second level without being touched or cut his way open. Dobbins benefitted greatly from his O line. Swift will be the first RB off of the board in the draft. Dobbins will be selected 25 picks or more later.

By the end of the first half of that game OSUs first round corner in 2021 was thrown out on a bogus targeting call and fields/dobbins were limping around. Only reason those big plays happened was based on awful calls.

It’s insane that people don’t see this

You are right , how could I forget that Fields and Dobbins were playing hurt on defense.......

Clearly you can’t read or ignored my post. OSU’s front 7 (this DOES NOT include DBs) does not have good lateral speed. It’s a fact. Watch the game , then watch LSU play Clemson.

Thank you Sister Marie for correcting my grammar. I will write on the chalk board 100 times that I shall not post when hung over.

Bring facts with you next time to your OSU/Big 10 argument, as opposed to conjecture. Clemson beat you with three long plays from scrimmage. During all three , their QB and RB made your front seven look like they were standing still. Now, watch those same players try to allude LSU’s front seven. Young has enough bells and whistles to warrant a first round pick. I didn’t see anyone else in that from seven that deserved to be drafted earlier than late third round, unless they substantially improve over time.

No, they were a more complete team than LSU and probably would have won the title game fairly easily.

Are these the kind of responses you want, where we just try to start stuff?
