Notre Dame could actually win this frickin' thing.

But it's gonna be Ohio State or Georgia. Ohio State understandably lost in crazy Autzen but kinda shoulda won. Neutral field, they're gonna do a rematch Bama-LSU job.

Shouldn’t they be champions of the Independent conference? At least if I were the committee that’s how I’d justify it

This is why the CFP is going to 14 teams in 2026.

I hadn’t heard that. Damn, 12 was already enough. Yeah yeah I know, it money. Let’s just have 30 teams in then. Or 40.

The last I checked, they play USC this coming weekend.

If you are putting your hopes on USC beating Notre Dame you are going to be sorely disappointed

Just like everyone saw ND losing to TAMU, and upset alert against Louisville, and Navy may have their number, and don't sleep on undefeated Army.

I don’t care what everyone else said.

I said that USC is going to heat Notre Dame.

Never will be able to until they get in a conference even if they are #1 and the best team college football has ever seen.

I don’t think so. ND is real good.

Well considering LSU is 0-1 at Kyle Field this year and ND is 1-0 at Kyle Field…

It’s all about the timing - they wouldn’t have gone to Reed in the opener and we were shutting down Weigman.

On the flip side, the Moss at USC was tossing darts against us then fell off a cliff.

ND would beat LSU by 20. You people are putting too much into the N Illinois loss.

ND has looked pretty good against awful competition other than Northern Illinois. I think they’ll be lucky to win one playoff game. I could see USC beating them, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

what? They have been dominating every opponent for the last couple of months.
Of all the teams that can win it all only the usual suspects have better odds (Texas, Oregon, Ohio St, Georgia).

Yeah, people are putting way too much stock into one fluky game. It was an absolutely terrible loss. Horrendous. But it was a sleep-walking fluke after a huge, emotional victory.

I saw someone in a different thread say the NIU loss should carry more weight for the playoffs than the A&M win, which makes no sense bc the A&M game was a billion times more “playoff like” as far as opponent, pressure, excitement, buzz, etc.

Right now, ND is #3 in FPI. #2 in Sagarin. #7 in SP+ (and only 2.5 points from being #2). #5 in F+. Ohio State maybe seems to be a bit ahead of the pack in all those categories (despite the Oregon loss), but in a year where there is no 2018 Clemson/2019 LSU/2020 Bama/2022 UGA… ND is a legitimate contender to win it all.
